Summary
The past is waiting.
Josie Jackson is whisked further into the past, to the era of Vikings and the (almost) eternal winters of Norway. Carter, the mastermind behind her foray through time, reveals that she'll be remaining there for six years - assuming she survives the first winter. To complicate matters, Josie has an unexpected health condition, one that threatens her life more than the frigid cold, Viking raids, and wild animals.
After un-creating Taylor and leaving Batu in the Mongol era, Josie wants nothing to do with any other man, especially not the Viking warrior she's engaged to shortly after dropped into a fjord in front of his village. Not everyone is as he seems in this era, from her reluctant new husband, to the mystic - scorned by the rest of the village - whose futuristic visions are too accurate to be divine, to Carter, the evil genius who's tormented her through three eras of history.
When she finally learns the truth behind why he chose her, she understands too well what the stakes of this game really are.

This series is awesome but...
I am enjoying this series very much and cannot wait for South to become available. However, I have a tiny bit of an issue with the main character even though Ms. Ford has really written these characters well. The description of Josie's surroundings in every era she ends up in, helps you to imagine being there. However, as intuitive as Josie is, how can she remain so naive about things. She is able to sense some things but can't imagine that some things are happening, even though she has seen so much by this point. If the story was not so well written, I would have skipped through several chapters because I cannot bear it when a character is ridiculously obtuse, and sorry, Josie was being just that in all three of the books. Although we are not able to really predict what will happen next in each of these stories, I feel like Josie could have had a little bit more common sense. Ah well, I know my opinion is not popular. I really am loving the stories but can't help to be annoyed or maybe frustrated is a better word, by Josie's lack of common sense.
At any rate, even though this is not a horror movie, the main character behaves like one of those women in one. So, if you are a fan of the female character doing stupid stuff that will get her killed, this story is perfect for you.

An excellent series that keeps getting better!
How does a series start out excellent and then proceed to get better with each subsequent book? That is certainly true for this series!
First off, if you haven't read the first two books in the series... Stop! These books must be read in order to enjoy the full effect of the plot.
Josie was separated from her Mongol husband, Batu and transported to a Viking community. She is absorbed into the community. She arrived pregnant, unbeknownst to her and finds herself married to a Viking warrior willing to adopt her children as his own.
Life in the Viking era is perhaps more challenging than life on the Mongol steppes. Carter is good about placing her with people who come to care for and love Josie. This time is no exception. Josie learns to live in the Viking era but Carter may have further plans for her that probably won't include her children and certainly will not give her any choices.
I loved the adventure in this book which had me on edge several times. I love the sudden twists in the plot that keeps the reader anticipating more. All I can think is that Lizzy Ford has a major challenge ahead as she brings the series to a close with the last book. I am looking forward to it!!

Fantastic
This series continues to surprise me. I'm reminded again and again why I live this author so much.
With each journey Josie takes she learns more and more about herself and the world's she's dropped into. It's been amazing watching her learn and grow, to accept and change. Each new era with whole new sets of dangers that she must overcome.
Being that it IS a connected series, this one will leave you on one hellofa spine tingling cliffhanger!
As always, this narrator is PERFECT for this series and brings the book to life in vivid detail.

It is wonderful the research that was done in this time period. Josie is learning a lot of lifes lessons in her time traveling. The ending makes me think about all the things that happened in this time period and what will come. I loved this book and am looking forward to more. Good writing and narrating.

Another great story
North, Book 3 ,was amazing!!
At first when I read that this was about the Viking era, I didn't think I'd be very interested, but was I wrong. The way Lizzy Ford weaves her stories is so good.
Josie is sent back to the Viking era by Carter, the guy she met in current times, who had asked her a hypothetical question (or at least Josie thought it was hypothetical).. if she could go back in time and change things, would she... Who wouldn't??!! However, she didn't think he was serious..
When Josie leaves the Mongolian era and the love of her life and soul mate, she lands in the Viking era.. and as Carter, true to fashion, doesn't tell her why.
Josie meets a mystic who tells her that the Gods told him that she was coming and he had to look after her..
Josie has many surprises along the way, but finds herself and what she can do and what she is capable of.
This was a great story and when I realized I had an hour left to listen to, I started to get very sad.
Great story and great performance by Lillian Yves..

Best so far!
Josie Jackson is taken from her husband and life in the Mongol Empire. Cater, her mysterious handler has sent her once again back in time, only now she finds herself in the era of the Vikings. Shortly after she lands in a fjord, Josie finds herself engaged to one of the fiercest Vikings of the village. She comes to learn that all is not as it seems in this small Norwegian village. There is an extreme cliffhanger at the end, but it is well worth it!
This has been my favorite book fo the History Interrupted series...so far. I fell in love with Batu in the last book, but this one centers more around Josie and her family. It is very easy to tell the amount of research Lizzy Ford has put into the novel to make sure it is as authentic as possible.
Lillian Yves has gotten progressively better as she reads each book. I am so excited to see what these two come up with in the final book: South.

So, I'm really digging this series. Far more than I ever thought I would. The story continues to be clever and interesting and the narration is very good. I love how Josie keeps getting sent further and further back in time to different cultures for some mysterious reason. I'm not history expert, but the author seems to try and include enough detail in the history to make it "feel" real while blending in her own paranormal elements. All in all, this is a great series that I hope continues.

blew my mind
I think this is the best in the series so far, even if it ends on a cliffhanger.... again. But what an end, I literally jump up and yelled WHAT??? when she comes face to face with her tormentor, who I got to hate as much as she did and it is revealed who it is really.
What an epic story this is, the few years spent among the Vikings, her unexpected discovery when she arrives there. Loved how she becomes stronger and more sure of herself, she survives some harrowing events, all because she has no choice really. Being a Mother too, I understand her resolve to do anything to protect. I was so happy when Batu found her again, but it is not to be ... again as she is whisked out of that time and placed in another. I hope SOUTH is coming out soon in audio because I have to know what happens next! I need to know WHY!
Ms. Yves comes a long way from the first book, her voice is perfect for Josie. No 'male' voices, yet all the characters are distinguishable with distinctive voice. Well done. I really enjoyed how she was able to tell the story and having it played in my mind so vividly.

A shocking cliffhanger ending,,,
Let me start y saying the narrator did a great job. I wanted to hate Carter so much, but with a cliffhanger ending like this one I can't. I'm not sure how to feel about him anymore. Not only did the ending of this one take me by surprise but it left me speechless. I can't wait for the next book only to see how everything comes full circle because there has to be another book. Just when I thought Josie would get her HEA with Batu, we were thrown another curveball. I'm looking forward to the next book.
