Summary

Nurse and avid backpacker Aimee Donovan is offered the opportunity of a lifetime. She encounters a patient who tells her he can send her two hundred years into the past to spend three months in the rugged Yellowstone wilderness at the dawn of the mountain man era. The only requirement: she cannot tell anyone that she's from the future.

How did a white woman suddenly appear in the remote Rocky Mountain wilderness? Trapper Daniel Osborne's first instinct is to protect this mysterious and unconventional woman from the harsh realities of his mountains. While he fights his growing attraction to her, he is left frustrated by her lies and secrecy. Daniel shows Aimee a side of Yellowstone she's never experienced.

She is torn between her feelings for him, and exposing a secret that will destroy everything he holds as truth. As her three months come to an end, she is faced with a dilemma: return to her own time, or stay with the man who opened her eyes to a whole new world. When the decision is made for her, both their lives will be changed forever.

Fantastic story, narration could have been more interesting

Fantastic story, narrator rather mono-tonal in sections. She sounded quite bored in places. A pity.

An unexpected delight

I can honestly say that I travelled Daniel and Aimee's story with both delight and tears. The story is so intense that I physically cried at one point (I won't tell you which part, it might ruin the story for a new reader). It is safe to say, though, that I have already downloaded the Christmas novella and I am looking forward to working through the whole series . Thankyou Peggy for taking the time to put 'pen to paper' it was not in vain. 😀

A SWEET TREAT THAT WAS JUST YUMMY

Ahhhh Yellowstone Park in 1810 when times were harsh men were men - rugged, capable and strong and it was no place for women who should be cherished, pampered and, of course 'loved'. But when handsome hunky Daniel (who's got no time for women because of his past) first sets his keen Trapper eyes on Amiee (a Nurse from 2010) he knew there was something different about her but would never have guessed she was from the future and is about to change his.

A lover of Yellowstone, the outdoor pursuits and adventures, Amiee is a spunky, capable and strong-willed beauty gets offered 3 months in the past living out her dream of bygone days. She thinks it's an old man's ravings so goes along with him by enthusiastically taking the chance - but she never bargained for it to be true.... or meeting Daniel. He was unhappy at first but slowly he was drawn to Amiee's many good qualities and beauty which resulted in sexual chemistry, desire and a beautiful romance,

But, of course the sand is falling through the hour glass and time is running out for these two lovers who have secrets yet to be shared and, before they knew it, every grain of sand was gone and Amiee, with her heart breaking, was brought back to 2010. Daniel's anger at being betrayed once again was to have devastating consequences and his bitterness and sadness didn't stop there in 1810. Amiee's life was consumed by heartache and memories until one night..... no, I'm not spoiling the best bit so listen for yourselves.

Worth a credit? A vividly described, emotional love story that had fun, humor, joy, passion and sorrow, there were a few interesting secondary characters - in particular Daniel's Indian friend Elk Runner, adventure and a dangerous encounter which led to a kidnapping and murder. So, worth a credit? Hell YEP.

Rocky Mountain Wilderness 1810

This was a first for me by author Peggy L. Henderson, but certainly not the last.

I love historical romance books, but it’s hard to find one with a fresh story-line. “Yellowstone Heart Song” takes the listener in a different direction than most. I really enjoyed the historical journey through the Rocky Mountain wilderness. I could see it all so vivid in my mind while I listened. Ms. Henderson has a gift of carefully describing her characters and their surroundings thoroughly, without being long-winded. She has the perfect mixture of adventure and real life struggle. Throw in some dangerous moments and just the right amount of sexual tension and anticipation and you have the perfect prescription for an entertaining 9 hours and 11 minutes.

In “Yellowstone Heart Song”, Native American raised Mountain-man, Daniel Osborne (aka Trapper Mountain-man 1810), meets ever helpful out-door adventurer Aimee Donavan (head strong UCI nurse from 2010) who has a passion for backpacking, and putting her nursing skills to good use. How do they meet? Aimee is given to Daniel by his blood-brother Elk Runner, after he tracked her to a ledge on the side of the mountain where she had fallen after being chased by a bear….and the story begins.

Alexandra Haag gave a good preformance.

I’ll say no more, much has already been said by the Publisher and Member reviews, other than I highly recommend “Yellowstone Heart Song” , I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Amazing story

This is the only author I've re-read books from, and listening to this audiobook has been my fourth time for this book! I love the story so much I read if three times, and it was just as great this fourth time. The story is exciting and the characters extremely likable. You won't be sorry if you try this book. If you are debating getting Redemption (book two), get it. It is even better than Heart Song.

If you didn't like the narrator's voice, be aware the next few in the series have a different, better (male) voice.

My Nap Sack is packed & I'm of to the Wilderness !

Any additional comments?

I have to tell ya, the Daniel Osbourne in my head (and on the front cover) is one sexy, sexy man. Huge, muscular, scarred, virile...Yumm. He's macho, manly, and very hot! This book was a very sweet treat that i enjoyed very much. This story gives Twilight-Zone a whole new meaning...It's so fantastically original. I've never read anything quite like it. It's weird...in a good, intriguing kinda way. I can honestly say I absolutely loved reading this book. The beginning was exhilarating and I was blown away at the first chapter. It catches your attention and doesn't let go until the end. I adored the back-in-time vibe, the hot-but-not-crude writing style, and all the outdoor learning sessions. I believe all Historical readers, Western lovers, and hunky men fans that adore a paranormal twist would definitely love getting lost in the pages of Yellowstone Heart Song. Narration was spot on and there are 3 more books to this series to look forward to, YA - So Dig in and enjoy - I most definitely did. :) :)

The Romantic beginning of a FANTASTIC SERIES!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Yellowstone Heart Song to be better than the print version?

I loved both versions. I REALLY enjoyed the experience of listening to the book, after reading the print version, because the narrator brings the characters to "LIFE"! It made me really realize that just reading it for myself doesn't give the same depth to the characters, and storyline. I really enjoy being able to hear the different "Voices" of the characters. For me, I don't get that so clearly when I do the reading. I am finding that I enjoy being read to. It is a completely different experience, and it is GOOD.

What did you like best about this story?

TIME TRAVEL!!! It was so exciting, as I have always dreamed of "going back in time" to a time in history that I find intriguing!! Also the setting in Yellowstone. That has been one of my favorite places, since I was a young child vacationing there with family. I also really enjoyed the unfolding Romance between Aimee, and Daniel.

Have you listened to any of Alexandra Haag’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first experience with Alexandra Haag. It was a positive experience, and I am ready to hear more from her. She is a very animated narrator, and does well with each character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Leave your "life" behind, and find Love & Adventure in THE YELLOWSTONE OF THE PAST.

Any additional comments?

I was fascinated by this book when it first came out in print, and eagerly have looked forward to each new book in the series. I was "HOOKED" in the first chapter, and I don't think I can ever get enough of the Osbornes in Yellowstone. Listening to it in audible format just gives me even MORE ENJOYMENT!!! Thank You Peggy L. Henderson!!! PLEASE KEEP THESE GREAT BOOKS COMING!! I really like "knowing" more about the lives of these characters. AND I LOVE TIME TRAVEL STORIES!!!

Love in the Wilderness of the Yellowstone 1810

Would you listen to Yellowstone Heart Song again? Why?

Yes! It is a beautiful exciting story. It takes you away to another time and place.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked all the details and description of the place Aimee was in the Yellowstone. It made me feel like I was there experiencing the events myself. I wanted to go there in person to see all of the places in the story.

Which character – as performed by Alexandra Haag – was your favorite?

I liked how she told Aimee's story and the emotions that were felt with each character. Her voice was soothing and told the story in a way that took you away in a dream of the Yellowstone.
The narration of this book was great story telling and easy to listen to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Daniel and Aimee admitted their love to each other.

Any additional comments?

This story is one of my all time favorites and hearing it in audio just made the characters come more alive in my mind. This was a very well written story and I highly recommend it to any one wanting to be taken away on an exciting romantic adventure.

I fell in love with this book all over again!

Would you consider the audio edition of Yellowstone Heart Song to be better than the print version?

I loved the print version and listening to the audio edition, just added to my pleasure of enjoying this book all over again.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It would have to be Daniel, my idea of a rugged mountain man, all rough and tough on the outside, but who has a loving and sensitive soul, that he keeps hidden very well. But I loved Aimee too, a high spirited modern woman, used to taking care of herself and she fights having to depend on Daniel.

What does Alexandra Haag bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Alexandra did a remarkable job of speaking the different voices and even the Frenchmen were believable. Since I cannot pronoun the names of the native tribes and do not know their languages, it was very pleasant to hear them pronounced the way they should be and this added to my listening pleasure.

Any additional comments?

I was drawn into this story from the very beginning when Aimee found herself lying on the green buffalo grass in Yellowstone, surrounded by nothing but wilderness and realized she had traveled two hundred years into the past to 1810. This begins the beautiful story of two people finding each other even though they lived two centuries apart. But could they stay together and would Aimee want to stay here in the wilderness with Daniel? I loved all the sexual tension between the two of them and I laughed, worried and cried along with them, well, actually sobbed at certain parts.

All the secondary characters were well thought out and quite a few were very likable, like Elk Runner, one of my favorites and as the story continued, I was able to recognize their different voices, as Alexandra read the audio.

This is a wonderful beginning to all of Peggy's audio books and I am looking forward to listening and enjoying the rest, just as I am enjoying reading her books. Highly Recommend. JudyE

Sweet Time Travel Romance

I tend to have a love hate relationship with time-travel books. This one falling it the love category. Really well crafted story with great twists and turns.

I loved the way it started, it picks up with Aimee in 1810, as she wanders you get the whole story of how she came to be here rather than 2010. Thank goodness she actually has some survival training, too bad she did not prepare better. I loved her spirit and energy. She does a great job of rolling with the punches.

Daniel takes a while to warm up to, he has issues and acts tough to protect his heart. He has the whole Alpha wilderness male down perfectly. Once you get to know him better he will win you over. But it really too me some time to get to like him enough to fall in love.

This is in a mixed narrative style, you get the POV's of the two leads, most of the time it is Aimee. There are also a few scenes from other character's POV, it helps give a fuller story and greater understanding of motivations. This style really goes a long way in making Daniel like-able, cause he comes off jerky from Aimee's side of things.

The romance grows over time and develops naturally. I enjoyed the dynamic between Aimee and Daniel once they sort out their issues. The story gets a little steamy, not full on erotic detail but some very smexy lovin occurs with an open bedroom door. You won't need a cold shower but a fan for your face might be a good idea to have handy!

I listened to the audiobooks narrated by Alexandra Haag. She does a nice steady read with distinct voices. I generally like a swifter read, even at triple time it felt slower. She has a relaxing tone that lends itself to the story. During action moments there is a feeling of energy and urgency instilled into the read. I enjoyed her read, just wish I could have sped it up a touch.

Overall, this is a really entertaining read. I can't say that any of the events surprised me, but it still managed to make me cry at a couple points. I am a sucker when it comes to romances!! I hoped the next book would be her friend Jana, but that seemed to be wrapped up in the Epilogue. I am eager to see what happens in the next book, it will be interesting to see what happens in the time travel.

Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and ratings are my own.

liked story - did not like narrator

I liked the story- but I am struggling to finish it because of the narrator at first I wondered if it was an actual person or a computer-generated voice because there was no emotion whatsoever and when she pretended to be the Indian it was awful -
