If you liked other books from this series this one should appeal to you too. The story continues where the last book finished and has the usual mix of interesting characters and battles. The first battle didn't feel quite right for me, but after that it settled in pretty well.
It was nice having more of the cast from the first 3 books show up for this one.


the biggest issue I had was the narration. Considering it's the same narrator from the rest of the series there is a weird choice to have an almost breathy/whispery tone to a large proportion of the performance. I don't know why, but it was very off-putting, especially at the beginning. It seems worst when the narration is on internal monologue rather than dialogue, but it gets pretty bad elsewhere as well. There is also a mispronounced name from previous books as well, for at least half of this book the admiral is pronounce as "yow" where previously she was "yo" - I don't know if spelling changed, but this was also quite jarring.

What's up with the whispered narration? it was annoying. apart from that: it was a good continuation of the series, with Tanner Malone doing what he does best, kicking alien butts and taking names. Introduction to more new aliens and dealing with past trauma at the same time. Looking forward to the next book.

So, great story, writing and plot as ways Ellot Kay. knows how to write a great yarn. I have to say the narration was a little bit off with this one, the primary body was delivered at a whisper for the most part. I have to assume this was a directorial or editorial decision. It didn't detract from the story but made the listening experience and tone, both difficult and slightly off at times relative to the rest of the plot.

Still a great story and performance though, well worth the credit.

Such an immersive and interesting story. The book manages high tension, a varied cast, and gratifying payoff flawlessly. I never felt lost, and haven't had a 'can't put the book down' in a audio book like this before. You owe me a night's sleep.

incredible story in a solid Sci-Fi series

I love the "Poor Man's Fight" series, but i tried to listen to this book but gave up 2 hours in. This is one of the worst experiences i've had with an audiobook, Mostly because i love the previous audiobooks. Tim Pabon has done an excellent job with previous "Poor Man's Fight" series, but in this book he drops the ball. For some reason he whisper almost the entiretly of the book. Any time Characters are talking, they speak at a normal volume; then he whispers the rest. I don't know why. It's as if someone wanted to make the book sound more intense, and as a result it sucks all the joy from the book. I skipped ahead to see if the whispering was just for the beginning, but it's the whole damn book.

I'm sure the rest of the book is fantastic; which is why i refuse to listen to this audiobook. I'll buy the book instead and read it. I've returned this audiobook and gotten my credit back. It's been 6 years since the previous book; i'm glad i wasn't a fan back then. I can't imagine the excitement of finally getting the new audiobook, only to having to listen to this garbage. I don't know how you mess this up. You've done it excellently 5 TIMES BEFORE!
