Story
I have several mothers. It's a bit complicated for me. Especially as they really don't like each other. There's even one who's going to die. Maybe it's a little bit my fault.... Maybe everything happened because of me. Because I can't remember which one is the real one. Malone, a child of four, starts to claim that his mother isn't his real mother. It seems impossible. His mother has birth certificates, photos of him as a child and even the paediatrician confirms this is her child.

Story
Slough House is Jackson Lamb’s kingdom; a dumping ground for members of the intelligence service who’ve screwed up: left a secret file on a train, blown surveillance, or become drunkenly unreliable. They’re the service’s poor relations – the slow horses – and bitterest among them is River Cartwright, whose days are spent transcribing mobile phone conversations.

Story
All murder mysteries follow a simple set of rules. Grant McAllister, an author of crime fiction and professor of mathematics, once sat down and worked them all out. But that was 30 years ago. Now he's living a life of seclusion on a quiet Mediterranean island - until Julia Hart, a sharp, ambitious editor, knocks on his door. His early work is being republished and together the two of them must revisit those old stories: an author hiding from his past and an editor keen to understand it.

When editor Susan Ryeland is given the tattered manuscript of Alan Conway's latest novel, she has little idea it will change her life. She's worked with the revered crime writer for years, and his detective, Atticus Pund, is renowned for solving crimes in the sleepy English villages of the 1950s. As Susan knows only too well, vintage crime sells handsomely. It's just a shame that it means dealing with an author like Alan Conway.... But Conway's latest tale of murder at Pye Hall is not quite what it seems.

Story
Every morning, the same path, the same route, the same time. Except when a wrong turning changes one man’s life for ever...When Steve Ellison discovers the body of a neighbour’s six-year-old daughter - who strongly resembles a child who disappeared in similar circumstances 26 years earlier - it unleashes a sequence of events that turns his life upside down, overwhelms his family, and the local community alike. DCI Neil Hunter immediately begins his investigation and the media invade Steve’s privacy, leaving him stunned, bewildered and...the prime murder suspect.
Summary
Jamal loves to run. But one morning - as he is training on a path winding up a steep cliff - he stumbles across a woman in distress. It's a matter of seconds: suddenly she is falling through the air, crashing on the beach below.
Jamal is only an unlucky bystander - or is he?
His version of events doesn't seem to fit with what other eyewitnesses claim to have seen. And how to explain the red scarf carefully arranged around the dead woman's neck? Perhaps this was no accident after all.
Or perhaps there is something more sinister afoot - a devilish plan decades in the making, masterminded by someone hell-bent on revenge.

Clever story, full of twists, difficult narration
As is usual with Michel Bussi, the story contains numerous twists and turns but I wonder whether this book has just too many of them since the plot veers towards being ridiculously complicated.
Also, the producers have decided to employ narration in English spoken with a north African French accent in order to try and lend authenticity to the voice of the main protagonist. This is something that has not been done in other Michel Bussi audiobooks and a narration in unaccented English would have made a highly complex plot easier to follow.
