About this listen

THE FIRST NOVEL IN THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING IN DEATH SERIES

It is 2058, New York City. Technology now completely rules the world, but for New York Detective Eve Dallas, one irresistible impulse still rules the heart: passion...

Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In over ten years on the force, she’s seen it all - and knows her survival depends on her instincts. And she’s going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire - and a suspect in Eve’s murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it’s up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about - except the addictive hunger of needing his touch.

Not a bad story

The story wasn’t bad but the 1995 guesses of technology of the future have not aged well. A stupid little thing that annoyed me in the use of lighted a cigarette instead of lit. Will probably listen to the next episode.

The start of a great series

Eve Dallas is the 'Jack Reacher' of the 21st Century, and I'm completely hooked on this series. This series is full of life, and Eve has the right kind of attitude for a 'kick-ass New York cop'.

Normally my wife is badly allergic to cliches, but for some reason the 'In Death' series carries off the occasional cliche with great aplomb and humour, and we both thoroughly enjoy the series.

Great first book in fab series

Have read a few of these books and find them entertaining and page turning. Doesn't matter if you read out of sequence although it was good to learn their history by reading the first book. Well written and a potential glimpse into the future !

The best in death book - The first is always the b

What did you like most about Naked in Death: In Death, Book 1?

Where Eve and Roarke first meet you can't beat that.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Favorite is difficult but in this one book Eve makes it she always does and with her realising that she just might be able to be part of a couple, and have some friends.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Where feeney and roarke come face to face. after Eve has took the test where she has been trying to clear him, and come to terms with being late for the little girl who did not make it.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Eve and Roarke the start of a complicated life together

Any additional comments?

The In death books would not be the same without Susan Erickson narrating. Its nice to here one voice through the series. The other characters that add later on make it as well. Some of the things Eve comes out with are really classic - my all time favorite "BITE ME"

A powerful story, well told

Eve Dallas is a credible powerhouse of a cop and Rourke is a not quite so credible ultra-rich side kick.
Loved the novel. Want more.

Mediochre

An easy listen, story was ok, there were no surprises or anything much to make me get the second book.

Brilliantly compelling start to a series!

This was a stunningly well written murder romance set just far enough into the future to give it a different feel. Amazing world building and character creation as well as the complexity of the plot which keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Loved it!
Highly recommended.

Excellent book

This makes a brilliant start to a series of crime thrillers that tell the background story to the characters as they move forward solving murders, developing romances and keeping the peace. All is threaded with a little humour and the technology blips that keep life fun.

Enjoyable.. looking forward to starting book 2.

An interesting take on a crime theme. Some reviewers mentioned the Rourke accent as wrong, I wish they hadn't because I waited for it and didn't think it was to bad but every time he featured in the book I kept thinking 'that's not to bad' Arrgh. looking forward to next in series. recommended...
