Story
Photographer Jo Ellen Hathaway thought she'd escaped the house called Sanctuary long ago. She'd spent her loneliest years there, after the sudden, unexplained disappearance of her mother. Yet the sprawling inn on an island off the Georgia coast continues to haunt her dreams. And now, even more haunting are the pictures someone is sending her: strange close-ups and candids, culminating in the most shocking portrait of all - a photo of her mother - naked, beautiful, and dead.

Story
A summer at his grandparents' South Dakota ranch is not 11-year-old Cooper Sullivan's idea of a good time. But things are a bit more bearable now that he's discovered the neighbor girl, Lil Chance, and her homemade batting cage. Even horseback riding isn't as awful as Coop thought it would be. Each year, with Coop's annual summer visit, their friendship deepens from innocent games to stolen kisses, but there is one shared experience that will forever haunt them: the terrifying discovery of a hiker's body.

Now an arson investigator, she finds her strength and wits constantly tested, although sometimes the job seems like a snap compared to her love life. But she can’t always blame the men. After all, a soot-caked woman barking orders and smelling of smoke isn’t the biggest turn-on in the world. Then she meets Bo Goodnight, who seems different.

Tory Bodeen grew up in a run-down house where her father ruled with an iron fist and a leather belt - and where her dreams and talents had no room to flourish. Worth a credit.
I really like Nora Robert’s although this story was a little predictable. It is definitely worth a credit though. The narration was a bit weird for my taste. The female lead character sounded about 10 years old and came over as rather wimpish. Her father sounded like one of the muppets but he wasn’t in the story much! Ok if you can get past that. I finished the book .

Any additional comments?
Liked the book and story but not the RECORDING as there is a lot of back ground noise starting about 3/4 the way through the first part of this book. Very distracting and when i asked if there was a better quality recording of the book i got a email back from Audible full of questions to be answered. I can't be bothered going through it all so am disappointed in the support from Audible and Audio quality of the first part of this book. I have never had an Audio problem before, just wanted a better quality recording or perhaps my credit back. :(

I typically enjoy Nora Roberts but this book is set in modern times while the narrator’s voice belongs in an old fashioned book. Pride and Prejudice would be a great book for her voice just not anything recent. I couldn’t even finish listening, had to turn it off.

Couldn't finish this one...
I made it about half way through, and I like the story, know what to expect from the author.... but I couldn't handle the narration. And it's not that it is bad, but the voices she used for many of the characters just didn't sit well with me. I would be pulled out of the story and get lost in trying to analyze what bothered me so much about how she was delivering that character's lines. I kept trying to move past it but couldn't. I didn't listen to a sample before picking this up, so the fault is mine. :-(
