About this listen
Moirin has a secret, too. From childhood onward, she senses the presence of unfamiliar gods in her life: the bright lady and the man with a seedling cupped in his palm. Raised in the wilderness by her reclusive mother, it isn't until she comes of age that Moirin learns how illustrious, if mixed, her heritage is. The great-granddaughter of Alais the Wise, child of the Maghuin Donn, and a cousin of the Cruarch of Alba, Moirin learns her father was a D'Angeline priest dedicated to serving Naamah, goddess of desire. After Moirin undergoes the rites of adulthood, she finds divine acceptance...on the condition that she fulfill an unknown destiny that lies somewhere beyond the ocean. Or perhaps oceans. Beyond Terre d'Ange where she finds her father, in the far reaches of distant Ch'in, Moirin's skills are a true gift when facing the vengeful plans of an ambitious mage, a noble warrior princess desperate to save her father's throne, and the spirit of a celestial dragon.

Intricate and spellbinding
Loved the female characters makes a great change to the usual fantasy world full of machismo male charecters.
I loved it one of the most imaginative intricate fantasy books I have read, spicy too

fantastic fantasy totally different
I have read hundreds of fantasy books and this is one of my top books. The world and magic in this story is well thought and interesting. The performer is difficult to get used to but stick with it . Fantasy permits us to forget the real world that overcomes our lives. Enjoy

Good epic but not her very best
This is the first book of a stand alone trilogy set a few generations after the original 2 trilogies featuring Phedre and Imriel
It could certainly be listened to stand alone but it’s probably better if you read/listened to the previous 6 books
That might be a problem for Audible UK listeners though as at time of writing these books aren’t available here. (They do exist in audio format and are very well read)
For those not familiar with the earlier books these are set in a thinly disguised version of the medieval earth
Our Herione is born and raised in Alba (U.K.) as a sort of nomadic Druid. She is the Great x3 granddaughter of King Justin (the king of alba) Queen Isandre ( the queen of Terre d’Ange ) in the earlier books. The first part of the story is about her early life from age 8 onwards after her rites of passage test we follow her on to Terre D,Ange (France) as a young woman and after a year or so there she goes on to the main quest in Ch’in (bet you can’t guess where that is ).
Many authors would split this into 2 or even 3 books so it’s great value for one credit.
It’s a good story and holds interest. The main characters are all likeable and you invest in them it’s is excellently read by Anne Flosnic and I found I wanted to keep listening though it needs several days to listen to it all It’s just not as good as the original Kushiels Dart trilogy. That’s not surprising though as the first trilogy in particular sets the bar incredibly high but it’s why it only gets 4 stars instead of 5. It’s still a good book and much better than many in this genre
I will definitely be following on with the next book soon

Great, love the skillfull Narrater!
Jacqueline Carey, is one of my most hated/loved wirter. She write with passion and Anne Flosnik makes every line and every word shine and wonderfull.
Those to together is the best i ever has heard/read.
Thanks!
When that said, so is Naamah's Kiss not the best of Jacqueline Carey, therefor 4 stars, i may be that I miss the main people of the first 6 books, or just that the quest to China is a bit out of place. I dont know.
I look very mutch forward to read the next book i the serie :)
