About this listen
Librarian Prunella Pearce has left heartbreak behind to start a new life in the village of Winterbottom, where there's little social life to be had aside from the meetings of The Winterbottom Women's Institute at the parish hall. But a bit of excitement ensues when the group is about to elect a new president—and the nominees for the position begin dropping like flies.
One is found face down in a lemon drizzle cake stabbed with a crochet hook. Another dies spectacularly in the revolving doors of a Harrogate hotel. When Pru and her friend Bree agree to do some undercover snooping to help the police, little do they know that one of the Winterbottom women is hiding a scandalous secret....

murder shouldn't be this amusing 🤣
Being in the thought's of each victim as they met their untimely deaths was hilarious.
I want everyone to listen to this story and guffaw and chortle as much as I have. Murder shouldn't be this funny but I'm so very glad it was

Poignancy, suspense, drama and laughter
There’s so much to like about this book. The characters are delightful…. The storyline quite novel in that you knew who the murderer was from the start. There was poignancy, suspense, drama and humour. I did laugh out loud at the false teeth section. The narrator brought the characters to life and I’m sure Patricia Routledge was an inspiration. Roll on the second book.

Interesting story
This was rather slow to start and rather confusing as to who was who initially. I persevered and things did improve. Worth listening to.

Whodunnit in reverse!
I enjoyed listening to this story, I particularly liked trying to find the link between the clues left behind by the person we knew ‘whodunnit’ and the twist at the end.

It was OK
The narration grated, wasn’t an easy listen.
Story line and ending was predictable, although occasionally the humour made my laugh.

Full and irritating narration
The narrator’s voice grated on me to the point my ears hurt. I had to stop listening after chapter 10. Awful. Very boring storyline and didn’t keep me interested.
