Summary

Cotswolds tearoom owner Gemma Rose is excited to join the May Day celebrations in Oxford...until the beautiful spring morning ends in murder. Now, she's embroiled in a deadly mystery - with four nosy old ladies determined to help in the sleuthing! Before she knows it, Gemma finds herself stalking a Russian "princess" and keeping up with the Old Biddies in Krav Maga class, while still trying to serve delicious cakes and buttery scones at her quaint English tearoom.

And that's just the start of her worries: there's her little tabby cat, Muesli, who is causing havoc at the local nursing home...and what should she do with the creepy plants that her mother keeps buying for her new cottage?

But the mystery that's really bothering Gemma is her boyfriend's odd behavior. Devlin O'Connor has always been enigmatic, but, recently, the handsome CID detective has been strangely distant and evasive. Could he be lying to her? But why?

Just my cup of tea

This is the 5th Oxford tea room murder mystery and I have listened to all 5 now and really enjoyed the series, I think this one was my favourite for a number of reasons. The biggest one is picturing a group of four little old ladies taking self defence lesson in order to be able to go under cover and questions suspects.. oh and to take on any bad guys that are lurking around Oxford. Very funny. As well as the antics of Mussel the playful cat that gets let lose in a care home, can she find another clue to help Gemma unmask the murder or just cause more embarrassment to her owner.

There was also a number of suspects to keep you guessing until the end. I can't wait for the next book in the series so I can catch up with what seems like old friends.

The narrator was very good and made a good job of giving some of the characters a Russian accent. Well to my untrained ear anyway.

Muffins and Mourning Tea

This is another lovely cost mystery, where the old biddies can be more hindrance than help sometimes. Read brilliantly again by Pearl Hewitt.

Wonderful!

I love these stories. The characters are well drawn; some are lovable, some are annoying. The environs of Oxford are clearly described. The murder mystery element is good but overall the stories are quaint and gentle and not overly graphic. There are amusing elements and Muesli is delightful. The narrator is excellent with a uniquely defined voice for each character.

I love this series

Another great adventure for Gemma and the 'Old Biddies.' This is one of the better books in the series. What I love most about The Tearoom Mysteries is that they are so funny. I love the humour; in this installment the Old Biddies doing Krav Maga provided plenty of light relief. Muesli also has his fair share of excitement and I couldn't help but laugh at his antics at the nursing home.
On a romantic note Gemma is worried about her relationship with Devlin as he works non stop and acts strangely around her. This story line kept the romance interesting for me. Lincoln, one of my favourite side characters, makes an appearance in this episode as well.
The mystery was fun but complex and it had me eagerly following the clues along with Gemma who seemed to be doing a better job of investigating than the police.

Wonderful yet again

I am really enjoying relaxing and listening to these stories. Jemma Trying to help much to Devlin's dismay. Being a lady who has looks after many cats I relate to Museli and her antics. Pearl brings the book to life.

Love these little books

Cute story. Interesting characters. The old biddies are definitely the best - the stars of the show. They interfere as we would all like to; and have no shame.

Another good yarn!

I do enjoy these books. The narrator is very good. However at some point I wasn't sure which decade it was set in. Drainpipe jeans! Haven't heard that since early 80's. They would wear skinny jeans of course, especially Jemma who is in her 20's.
