Summary

In a business like monster hunting, it's all about setting priorities.

The chaos god Asag has been quiet since the destruction of the City of Monsters, but Monster Hunter International know that he is still out there, somewhere - plotting, waiting for his chance to unravel reality.

When Owen and the MHI team discover that one of Isaac Newton's Ward Stones is being auctioned off by Reptoids who live deep beneath Atlanta, they decide to steal the magical superweapon and use it to destroy Asag once and for all. But before the stone can be handed off, it is stolen by a mysterious thief with ties to MHI and the Vatican's Secret Guard.

It's a race against time, the Secret Guard, a spectral bounty hunter, and a whole bunch of monsters to acquire the Ward Stone and use it against Asag. For as dangerous as the chaos god is, there is something much older - and infinitely more evil - awakening deep in the jungles of South America.

Harbinger/G Nome.

Oh my God!!!!!! the end is a cliff hanger of all cliff hangers. Larry get to writing book 9 like now today do not take 2 years... oh forgot... why does Harbinger no sound like G-nome. maybe the narrator couldn't quite get the original voice back the way he did in the past.

Great Addition to the MHI series!

another great read from Larry Correia! is it the best in the series, no... but, there are some great twists and turns combined with some big reveals! It was very nice to see the crossover with the (also enjoyable) Memoirs titles! big old cliffhanger at the end which already has me clawing at the walls, like Harbinger on a full moon, for more info and another book. Bravo Larry, Bravo!

For the first time, an ending has shocked me!! it was a slower burn than the others but I really enjoyed it and didn't want it to end, when it did I was shocked! im now desperate for the next book as usual!

it was a great start

thought there would be more to the story though, kinda disappointed but the story itself was great just didn't expect it to end the way it did just spent alot of time with monster hurting this shape shifter...

excellent as always

what can you say the series just keeps on giving its twists and turns. Even the expected still gives the unexpected. excellent addition to the series.

A return to form.

I was nervous that this would be like the last addition to the canon (the distinctly sub-par collaborative effort "Monster Hunter Guardian" with the distinctly mediocre narrator Bailey Carr) but it's back to the good stuff with Oliver Wyman behind the mike. If you enjoyed the first six then you'll love this one, mad humour and lots of guns, but if you liked the whiney dullness of book 7 this may not be for you...even Julie is back on form...

Good story, slightly drawn out but perfect for long drives/commutes, roll on the next one.

Waited so long and what I got wasn’t enough

This has been one of my favorite book series until the guest writers stepped in. But when I heard Larry wrote this one I was so excited. This book had great moments but failed to feel authentic and left me struggling to finish the book.

To end the way it did after making us wait as long as the author did seems unfair. Is it going to be years before the next one too? Or is another guest writer going to write the next one that will end up being another side story?

I miss the old Monster Hunter books. So riveting I could not stop reading. But I suppose all good things come to an end.

Why is the audio worse than all the others.

Another great book. I couldn’t wait for this one, a return to Oliver doing the voice work. But the Audio is not as good. It’s as if the whole thing was recorded on an iPhone or something. Also, why did you change harbingers voice????? He sounds like G gnome now. Kinda weird.

great, but only half the story

Fantastic writing and narration as usual, with great action and humor. I'm disappointed that this story was split into two books.

HOLY SHIT

I love the tie in at the beginning to past work in the universe. Then the action in the middle was amazing. But the end of the book.....REALLY what the hell, that is so wrong and so out of left field that it just blew my mind.

Larry and Oliver for the win again

As always, superior writing and excellent narration. Need I say more? Nope. I managed to slow myself down and listen to this one over two days instead of blasting through it in one. Often times i I don’t like books that end in a cliff hanger, but this time I’m just thrilled to know there’ll be another installment.

Disappointed by incomplete story

The gang is back together which is great! But the story felt rushed and seemed only half told.

At the end you feel like you are left hanging. Cliffhangers are not a problem for me but this felt like there should of been another half to this story.

Do yourself a favor and wait till the next book is out before buying this one. It will be a much more enjoyable experience without feeling let down by the author.

Wow. Just Wow.

Another grand slam by Larry Correia! This is chock full of new and old monsters.
plots within plots. If you have enjoyed MHI so far this one will not disappoint.

But, Larry! How could you leave us hanging at the end like that?
Waiting for the next installment.
