Summary

An extraordinary tale of love, desire and forgiveness from the number-one best-selling author of Songs of love and War.

Sofia Solanas grows up on a beautiful ranch in the middle of the Argentine pampa. In a world of old-fashioned values, she carves out a place as a rebellious and passionate young woman. But eventually, her stubborn nature leads her to trouble....

When Sofia’s mother Anna discovers that Sofia has embarked on a forbidden love affair, she must act in order to save the family from shame. She sends Sofia to Europe - away from her friends and family and the man Sofia loves. But then, more than 20 years later, a family tragedy calls Sofia home, and she must discover if her passion still lives on....

Really Loved It!

The book was perfect. I absolutely loved it. I’m a really big Santa Montefiore fan, she has a wonderful way of telling a story. I don’t normally like to review books but this had everything I was looking for. Juanita McMahon is also a great narrator - she gets deep into character and I can really get immersed into the world of the book. As soon as I hear her voice I know I’m going to really enjoy the story. I highly recommend it.

Not fond of the main character

I eventually enjoyed this book a little! unlike Santa's other novels, it took a long while for me to get into it. I just didn't like the main character Sophie and therfore she irritated me all through with her selfish me, me, me attitude. She was just a spoilt little madam ... and Juanita McMahon's Irish accent was appalling ... so all in all not the best.

My favourite book of all time...

Read it as a young girl, it's even better now that I have more worldly experience. Truly beautifully written, engaging and an emotional rollercoaster.

Santa has done it again

Reduced to a blubbering wreck again at the end of this wonderful saga of family, loss and love. The characters spring to life and story line so true. I absolutely adored it, as I have with the others, books of hers I have read.
