don't be fooled the the other reviews

whiney main character that constantly panics and worries while also not actually doing anything constructive to help himself and then gets angry and upset when the world doesn't just bend to his will, do not believe the other reviews when they compare it to other books like legend of the arch magus other than them both being reincarnated they are nothing alike

Inexplicably Boring

Firstly, it spends an inordinate amount of time (whole book really) in the least appealing growth period (baby); and the reflections and ruminations are incredibly simplistic and often quite inane. It actually becomes so boring that the only reason I finished it was through disbelief. I have never finished a book so angry before - though I have stopped reading much worse books. It's not even a pleasant slice of life story but rather a boring prologue dragged out over nearly 11 hours. The narrator does his best with what he has but his voice is ill-suited to communicating a baby's first person story.

Also, the cover art is massively misleading. It gives the impression that the MC will be of a reasonable age throughout the meat of the book, when of course he remains a baby. Add that to the description of the book - "adventure about an unexpected hero coming of age in his new home" - it really feels like they are misleading us intentionally.

decent story but only gets going towards the end

while decent I have a few issues with the story mostly the issue is the MC he is your typical iskei MC with modern day sensibilitys ie animal cruelty murder etc the problem with this is that it makes things weird at certain parts of the story and you know for a fact it's going to come back to bite him

the other issue is that like a lot of litrpgs stats like intelligence really don't work like the story suggest there was multiple times where I could see where something was going but the MC with his supposed intelligence takes forever to realise and it's not like I'm particularly on the high end of iq ,The reality of this is that the author wants certain things to happen so they do even when it's illogical

Lol 😆 loving it

LOL the kid is interesting but the storyline is too slow and I did not get a lot of the book I wanted more but there wasn't enough and he's not even a book 2 you. Don't get me wrong the book is amazing the storyline is amazing and the expansion is amazing and everything is balanced. I did not like that there was not a lot of the book the story was too slow for 10 hours 48 minutes

Really fun :)

It's a story about a baby magician. Some reviewers complain about the premise since most (all) of the book the mc is a baby/toddler. I thought the description of the book mentioned it but it clearly could be spelled out better. That said, I can easily recommend this book for being interesting and fun and it sets up an exciting next book.

Talking and thinking babies!

Must admit I wasn't sure what to think when I started listening to this book but I was more than pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the story line and look forward to listening to more.

why a baby

why did you have to start the story as him as a baby you should have started as when he was four and before that it was like a dream kind of thing where he kind of in and out through the four years. I'm just having a hard time getting past the everything happening at f****** less than age 1. it also be less creepy. I'm 2 hours in and he's still less than 1 year old is this what the book entire books going to be about cuz that wasn't in the description. I actually thought this would be a good book by the description but it it's just too much.

Nothing is wrong but nothing's right

This is one of those books where they try to do everything right but something's just wrong about it it's got everything you need but at the same time it's just such a slog at times to read and and at times you want to give up but you just wanna see what's gonna happen next so it's a book that yeah it's OK for reading but at the same time You're so I don't wanna Keep it When you're done with it think about returning it because you just don't want to have it clogging up your library it's a good potential it's just When it started to get More interesting What's the last 15% of the book

Refreshing Lit RPG without the angst

LITRPG/XIANXIA on audible has started to get rather trite-MC comes of age and wins a tournament or MC is angsty and escapes to VR. This was refreshing, no system integration or mentally ill MC repeating mantras from their therapist, just straight up reincarnation (with all memories intact) into a magical world. Narration and production well done without any distracting errors. I think Neil had excellent pacing and made it easy to identify each voice. Over all I will probably do it again. If you enjoyed Legend of the Archmagus, Reincarnated as a Farmer, or the Turtleme series you’ll want to pick this up.

Don't listen to haters. This book is great

Yes, the main character is an adult man who is reincarnated into a baby, and the cover is deceptive, but the story is great. You get to understand a society that has baby geniuses, and the MC is one. Get the book. Thank me later.

Awesome!

Really good and entertaining story but i do have to say that i was glad when the MC finally started to grow up physically because it was feeling like the baby arc was dragging a little. now i really like Neil Hellegers but i feel like he didn't hit a single comedic timing they all fell flat because of the way he narrates but still great work overall and definitely looking forward to the next book!

good with an odd twist

I'm a fan of the narrator after listening to him in the litrpg ten realms series. I think I bought this book immediately after listening to the sample and enjoying it probably strongly influenced by my excitement that I recognized the voice.

Overall the book was great. It was odd jumping into a world with babies with a full scope of language and personality. The book glosses over this and I was left to assume that babies in this world are often born/reincarnated with high comprehension, language, and intelligence. After listening to the first hour and realizing that I had no idea what the book was about other than being a litrpg. I felt awkward with the child characters. I'm glad I jumped into the book and listened past the awkwardness. It reminds me a bit of Orson Scott Card's series Ender's Game or Seventh Son young characters... but even younger. Overall the world is interesting, and I like the main character's point of view and personality. I will be following for more.

MC is a baby the entire book.

I knew from skimming a few reviews the patient was a baby for quite a while. But I guess those reviewiers that I read didn't finish the book, because I did force myself to finish the book and he was a baby the entire time. The whole book! That was not mentioned in the description of the book on Kindle or audible when I purchased the audiobook. I can understand a chapter or two of him being a baby after being reborn before it jumps ahead to him being at least a preteen or teen if not an adult... but a whole book of being a baby? That is not what I enjoy or expected based on the authors book description.

Scaredy Baby

For most of this book the mc poses his irrational and emotional thought processes as logic. He is ruled by fear and anything that is unknown is an existential threat that wants to kill him in some way. He realizes fear is his driving motivated multiple times but always falls back into doing stupid and irrational things like they are perfectly normal. The books was interesting and the system new but I had trouble connecting to this mc. The plot of this book centers on fear.

Nothing special

Cannot say it was a bad story but nothing noteworthy really happens. Doesn’t add anything to the genre but it’s a decent filler book. I do believe the next book has plenty of potential because the book was all foreplay.

Potential

This story has definite potential. I would of guess that because the baby has a human old mind in his head that he could be an over powered baby that kicks butt and takes names. But the story is still developing.
