Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Neuroscientist, philosopher, podcaster and best-selling author Sam Harris has been exploring some of the greatest questions concerning the human mind, society and the events that shape our world.
Harris’ search for deeper understanding of how we think has led him to engage and exchange with some of our most brilliant and controversial contemporary minds - Daniel Kahneman, Robert Sapolsky, Anil Seth and Max Tegmark - in order to unpack and understand ideas of consciousness, free will, extremism and ethical living.
For Harris, honest conversation, no matter how difficult or contentious, represents the only path to moral and intellectual progress.
Featuring 11 conversations from the hit podcast, these electric exchanges fuse wisdom with rigorous interrogation to shine a light on what it means to make sense of our world today.

Important Conversations
Creatively Crafted Conversational Content. Sam has amalgamated a series of important conversations, I love it.
If you follow Sam's work then you will recognize that this book contains a string of meaningful conversations on topics that are important to everybody. This should be heard with an open mind, to allow for growth and understanding in a time that needs it most.

Great content, poor recording quality.
There’s some really good content within this collection of podcasts/ discussions. Unfortunately in some cases the quality of the audio recordings are below what I’d expect for an audiobook

Very stimulating, but does Sam Harris never interview women?
Often enlightening, frequently pompous, and overwhelmingly male dominated. Not sure whether that reflects the make-up of the field of philosophy or not, but either way it’s disappointing not to hear more female voices.

Best of Both Worlds
In a way this is more fun than regular audiobooks, because we get to listen to alive conversations rather than dead narrations.
It's also better than subscribing to his podcast, because it's a neatly packaged collection that you can easily revisit to try to absorb as much as you can.
The content is great and far-reaching too. There are conversations from consciousness to multiverses, and then back down to Earth to discuss racism and much more. Highly recommended!

30% Excessively Esoteric
The good conversations are very, very good. About 30% are hardcore philosophy of no practical use to normal humans. Be prepared to skip to the next - for me life is too short to listen to two people debating the optimal circumference of the head of a pin (my example)

BOY ! This absolutely DOES make sense.
90%+ of what is said by both Sam and his guests is incredibly insightful and valuable. A couple of guests have some left field ideas (which Sam carefully unpicks but leaves you to weigh up on the true/false likely/unlikely scales).
The interviews with Daniel Kahneman and Max Tegmark are ABSOLUTE MUSTs
I loved it and will be re-listening multiple times.
I will be investigating most of the interviewees work independently, as they are all clearly ‘brains the size of a planet’ in their specialist spheres.
Sam’s calm, balanced, poignant commentary and questioning is wonderful.
