Summary

USA TODAY bestseller from the author of The Mountain Between Us, now a major motion picture!

"When Maggie opened her eyes that New Year's Day some seventeen months ago, I felt like I could see again. The fog lifted off my soul, and for the first time since our son had died and she had gone to sleep—some four months, sixteen days, eighteen hours, and nineteen minutes earlier—I took a breath deep enough to fill both my lungs."

Life began again for Dylan Styles when his beloved wife Maggie awoke from a coma. A coma brought on by the intense two-day labor that resulted in heartbreaking loss. In this poignant love story that is redolent with Southern atmosphere, Dylan and Maggie must come to terms with their past before they can embrace their future.

Returning

Im a Charles Martin fan. Ive listened to all his books and the last 2 have been disappointing. Especially this one, which I'm returning not finnished. Listened to 17 chapters and I've been bored, my mind wanders and still havent got anywhere. To wordy, to in depth about everything. The narrator is at time to feminine sounding, I just dont like that in a mans voice. Kind is fine, feminine yuk.

Hurt of not being what you were born to be

I love all Martin’s books but this one had me crying for days. The hurt of losing a child and the process of fertility treatment is lonely This book opened wounds and longings but more important it made me cry and was healing to a very hidden part of my heart.

ORIGINAL PUBLISH DATE 2006

This book was originally published in 2006, which accounts for the sophomoric writing.  The story is jam-packed with similes, clichés, and/or metaphors. It's funny but these grammar basics are sometimes repeated later on in the story.  It appears that the original 2006 publication was never professionally edited.  I  have enjoyed many of Charles Martins' books but this is not one of them.

Ending is such a hook

The ending leaves you dangling and wanting more to the story. What happens adoption? Pregnancy?

Narrator - Terrible

I listen to a ton of audio books. This narrator is terrible. It’s bad enough that I’ve quit listening to it and am returning the title. I never do that. Also, when a book is a series, using the same narrator for the characters is pretty important. Jonathan K. Riggs is amazing, why didn’t he perform this one?

Maggie

I enjoyed this book. So much love between Dylan and Maggie!!! Through their trials there was a lot of action with a few really bad men.
