Summary
An internationally famous photographer, Tucker Mason has traveled the world, capturing things other people don’t see. But what Tucker can’t see is how to let go of his traumatic childhood and forgive his father.
On a sprawling Southern estate, Tucker and his younger brother, Mutt, were raised by their housekeeper, Miss Ella Rain, who loved the motherless boys like her own. Hiring her to take care of Waverly Hall and the boys was the only good thing their abusive and alcoholic father ever did.
When his brother escapes from a mental hospital and an old girlfriend appears with her son and a black eye, Tucker is forced to return home and face the agony of his tragic past.
Though Miss Ella has been gone for many years, Tucker can still hear her voice - and her prayers. "Life is a battle, but you can’t fight it with your fists. You got to fight it with your heart." But finding peace and starting anew will take a measure of grace that Tucker scarcely believes in.
Wrapped in Rain follows Tucker’s journey from brokenness to healing through the everlasting power of love.
Praise for Wrapped in Rain:
"Charles Martin is changing the face of inspirational fiction one book at a time. Wrapped in Rain is a sentimental tale that is not to be missed." (Michael Morris, author of A Place Called Wiregrass and Live Like You Were Dying)
"This is the story of a real person’s real struggle with the uncertainties of faith, unadorned with miracles of the deus ex machina sort but full of the sort of miracles that attend everyday life if you bother to notice. Charles Martin notices, and for that I commend him. He’s unafraid of tackling the crucial questions - life, death, love, sacrifice." (Duncan Murrell, editor and writer)
- Includes a 15th anniversary note from the author
- A bonus excerpt from Martin’s novel The Water Keeper

Amazing book
Good and evil will always be with us; this book is one of Martins best! I will listen to it again, at times I teared up and other times I laughed out loud, thank you Martin for a great listen!

Great from the start
From the start this book grabs you, takes you down a road of family drama, power of prayer and how we all have choices to be better or bitter. A definite must hear.

I wish I hadn’t wasted my time
This book reads like someone’s high school attempt. The prose is pedantic and full of old cliches and newly made-up cliches that were irrelevant to any material being discussed. Surely a good editor would have smoothed much of this out of the story.
Underlying it was a sweet story so I finished hoping it would redeem itself. It did not. Very predictable and followed a cut-out recipe for new authors.
Lastly, the narrator was awful. He read a book. He did not try to perform different characters or change voice or tone so you could believe someone was male or female.
Love audible. Give this one a pass

UGH
PLEASE DEAR EDITORS! Please indicate when a book is a inspirational, proselytizing novel. It has happened to me three times now. I get half way thru a decent enough story with a supporting character who is defined by their tightly held religious beliefs, when the book becomes all about that message. At least it was free...

Wrapped in Rain
I haven’t read a book by Charles Martin that I haven’t loved yet. This was certainly no exception. Half way through it felt like I had a cramp in my throat from the vivid emotion of the story.

Forgiveness is always key ingredient in healing
Another great book by Charles Martin on a vital subject of forgiveness. “Hurt people hurt people unless healed,” Son of Hamas. Timely read for anyone who has suffered hurt.

Great Story
So many good lessons in this story, it could almost be a parable. I want to be just like Mama Ella.

Wrapped in Rain
Another outstanding story/book by Charles Martin. This man has a talent for telling a story of life. What I like the most about his books is the fact that he is not afraid to include our Almighty Lord and Savior, God Almighty in his grasping stories of life love and belief. Great story!
