Summary

The first book in the Hollow's Row series.

He's the devil. And she's his wicked game.

An enemies-to-lovers dark romance with a thrilling twist from the disturbed mind that brought you the Darkly, Madly Duet.

Halen:

They say eyes are the windows to the soul—but when he looks at me through hues of slate-green and flaring blue embers, I'm terrified of what's watching me from behind his clashing gaze, something primal and feverish that threatens to melt me like fire in ice.

I fear falling into Kallum Locke's pitch-black soul.

But after I'm called to a crime scene to investigate the most gruesome act of violence to descend on the legendary town of Hollow's Row, I have no choice but to turn to Kallum, to the man I had locked away in an asylum for the criminally insane.

He's the leading expert on all things Nietzsche and occult. And now, to get answers, I'm forced to make a deal with the devil himself.

Kallum:

Really, eyes are the windows to the soul? Then I wonder what little Halen St. James thinks of all the cryptic eyes watching her in the killing fields.... I wonder if the hairs on her delicate nape lifted away, if a thrilling shiver raced over her soft skin. She's desperate for the answer, and she'll do anything to uncover it—even make a deal with me, dangling freedom like bait on a hook.

But she's far more tempting to sink my teeth into than any lure.

And the pain will taste twice as sweet.

Lovely Bad Things is the first of a three-book Hollow's Row series: Book one ends on cliff-hanger.

CW: Serial killers. Crime scenes. Dark themes. Violence. Murder. Blood and sharp object play. Occult references. Loss of loved ones. As this is dark romance, there are likely other dark themes and situations, so please listen responsibly.

Amazing story and narration

My first time with this kind of story but came upon it having fallen down the rabbit hole of Joe Arden’s narration voice. And boy he didn’t disappoint. There was a particular chapter that really made me stop and do a “wow” out loud at the tone and delivery of his words. Gosh that man is captivating. Lucy Rivers too did an awesome job. Great pairing at bringing this story to life.

Can't wait to listen to the next book❤️‍🔥

📢Last call to Miss Wolfe, last call to Miss Wolfe📢
I 𝖑𝖔𝖘𝖙 so many hours of sleep but I am willing to convert them in exchange for the next book because I was left 𝖘𝖍𝖆𝖐𝖎𝖓𝖌, excited and thirsty for more!🤩

I fell in love with Wolfe's writing in 𝕯𝖆𝖗𝖐𝖑𝖞, 𝕸𝖆𝖉𝖑𝖞 duet.
I love 𝖉𝖆𝖗𝖐 novels combined with 𝖕𝖘𝖞𝖈𝖍𝖔𝖑𝖔𝖌𝖎𝖈𝖆𝖑 𝖙𝖍𝖗𝖎𝖑𝖑𝖊𝖗𝖘, the kind that 𝖕𝖑𝖆𝖞 𝖜𝖎𝖙𝖍 𝖒𝖞 𝖍𝖊𝖆𝖉 until the last page.
Wolfe 𝖘𝖚𝖈𝖐𝖊𝖉 me into her and the characters' heads, I felt like I was in Helen and Callum's shoes and not as a bystander, but seeing everything through their eyes.

Helen is a 𝕮𝖗𝖎𝖒𝖎𝖓𝖔𝖑𝖔𝖌𝖎𝖘𝖙 that finds herself closing a deal with the 𝖉𝖊𝖛𝖎𝖑 in exchange for help resolving a 𝖘𝖎𝖈𝖐 case that has come into her hands.

🖤“𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬.” 𝐈 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝖉𝖊𝖛𝖎𝖑𝖎𝖘𝖍 𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞.🖤

The 𝖈𝖗𝖚𝖊𝖑 descriptions of the 𝖊𝖛𝖎𝖉𝖊𝖓𝖈𝖊 from the arena 𝖈𝖆𝖚𝖘𝖊𝖉 𝖈𝖍𝖎𝖑𝖑𝖘 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖌𝖔𝖔𝖘𝖊 𝖇𝖚𝖒𝖕𝖘 𝖆𝖑𝖑 𝖔𝖛𝖊𝖗 𝖒𝖞 𝖇𝖔𝖉𝖞,
Professor Callum's 𝖇𝖗𝖆𝖎𝖓 𝖌𝖆𝖒𝖊𝖘, 𝕻𝖍𝖎𝖑𝖔𝖘𝖔𝖕𝖍𝖎𝖈𝖆𝖑 sentences, I felt like I was dancing with 𝖉𝖆𝖓𝖌𝖊𝖗 - one step forward, two backwards - in each episode I learned something new about 𝖕𝖍𝖎𝖑𝖔𝖘𝖔𝖕𝖍𝖞 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖕𝖍𝖎𝖑𝖔𝖘𝖔𝖕𝖍𝖊𝖗𝖘 in particular, I learned to think outside the box and see with different eyes the full picture, 𝖉𝖆𝖗𝖊 𝖙𝖔 𝖉𝖎𝖌 into information even if it 𝖘𝖍𝖆𝖐𝖊𝖘 the land beneath me.

🖤𝐈 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐞’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐲𝐞𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫🖤

One of the 𝖈𝖗𝖆𝖟𝖎𝖊𝖘𝖙 books I've ever read, the 𝖙𝖜𝖎𝖘𝖙𝖘 were unexpected!
I thought I understood where Trisha was headed and then she turned me 180 ° and shouted "Surprise‼️"
The sentence "Do not let them guess your next step." written about her I 𝖘𝖜𝖊𝖆𝖗!

I finished this book with the 𝖍𝖚𝖓𝖌𝖊𝖗 feeling for more, I NEED the next book asap!!
This recommendation is for anyone who loves to 𝖉𝖆𝖓𝖈𝖊 𝖎𝖓 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖉𝖆𝖗𝖐𝖓𝖊𝖘𝖘 𝖜𝖎𝖙𝖍 𝖉𝖊𝖒𝖔𝖓𝖘, 𝖙𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝖍𝖆𝖛𝖊 𝖋𝖚𝖓 𝖇𝖊𝖙𝖜𝖊𝖊𝖓 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖋𝖔𝖗𝖇𝖎𝖉𝖉𝖊𝖓 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖆𝖑𝖑𝖔𝖜𝖊𝖉, 𝖜𝖍𝖔 𝖇𝖊𝖑𝖎𝖊𝖛𝖊𝖘 𝖙𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝖑𝖆𝖜𝖘 𝖆𝖗𝖊 𝖒𝖆𝖉𝖊 𝖙𝖔 𝖇𝖊 𝖇𝖗𝖔𝖐𝖊𝖓 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖑𝖔𝖛𝖊𝖘 𝖛𝖎𝖑𝖑𝖆𝖎𝖓𝖘 𝖜𝖎𝖙𝖍 𝖆 𝖘𝖒𝖎𝖑𝖊 𝖙𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝖎𝖘 𝖉𝖆𝖓𝖌𝖊𝖗𝖔𝖚𝖘 𝖙𝖔 𝖞𝖔𝖚𝖗 𝖍𝖊𝖆𝖗𝖙, this is your next book!

Not for me

DNF. There were no "real" conversations whatsoever. The dialogue was riddled with puzzles, philosophical quotes and vague non-answers. I found it very exausting and hard to enjoy and relate to. Also, no real plot except for the murder. Maybe just not for me. Narrators were great 'tho.
