Summary

To enter Five Peaks Magical Academy, you must have a familiar.

Abigail hoped for a bird - maybe an owl, like that of her best friend - or a cuddly cat, or perhaps a loyal hound. She even would have been happy with a particularly smart toad.

Instead, she got you.

Not what I was expecting

I was looking forward to this book because I really enjoyed Cinnamon Bun and was hoping something as light and enjoyable with this book.

I am not a fan of the way the story was told and then when you throw in a little sexual awakening/confusion romance into the mix, it totally lost me. Nothing against anyone who might be LGBTQ, but this felt more like it was thrown in for flavor of the month not because the author genuinely needed that aspect in the story. The story would have been just fine, actually better if the romance part was totally left out and just left everyone as friends with no discussion of sexuality.

Short but enjoyable

Another really good book by Ravens dagger. The author manages to capture your attention right from the beginning and hold it all throughout the story. While the book is a medium length of 9 hours, it appears to be (As of this moment) a single volume story. While the story could offer more if this was a series, the book wraps everything up in a way that any questions or doubts are addressed and it feels like a definitive ending. I had one complaint and one moment where I questioned the author's intent The complaint being there are alot of misunderstanding throughout the story. This makes sense as to the story is essentially built around misunderstanding between the two main characters but there was one big one that felt forced and dragged on revolving around a characters sexuality and which way she sways. The questionable moment was where the author got into borderline pedophilic content. This happened when the main character of the story (A summoned creature who has a childish appearance and personality) comes into contact with a group of lesbian characters part of a club that imply that she should have "an intimate relationship" with her summoner. It is even said by a side character that "she looks like she is 13". Aside from this iffy part of the story, the rest of the book was very engrossing, and the author did a good job portraying each character and giving them each personality. The ending was really good and well written and seemed confusing for the briefest moment until it all came together.

Awesome Concept, Mediocre Execution

This story was amazingly creative and almost deserves six stars out of five for the idea of the character, Dreamer. It was impressive to see the balancing act between the cute little girl aspect of Dreamer, and her her all-powerful tentacle monster side. I think if the story was rewritten without the distracting lesbianage, slightly more realistic reactions to some of Dreamer's antics, and maybe a bit more of an actual story, it could be an amazing book. But, even as it is, it is certainly worth a listen as you will never hear a story quite like it.

Fun read despite having no conflict whatsoever

This story is really odd because it has absolutely no conflict; the characters just breeze through on easy mode, and that SHOULD make it boring. Instead, it's kinda fun - the characters are likeable and it's interesting to see how Dreamer is going to solve the latest problem.

I think I would have liked it better if it were really about a girl trying to cope with magic school when her familiar is a tentacle monster, as was implied by the summary, but like I said, this version is okay. Dunno if it has any reread potential or if you will enjoy it, but I cautiously recommend it as long as you are prepared going in.

Clever, fun, and funny story!

I really enjoyed this book. It had tons of funny references and scenes, and made for a great, self contained story. RavensDagger is definitely one of my favorite authors, and this story did not disappoint.

Great adorable eldritch elder (not) god~

The author did a great job of capturing the.. everything of an eldritch elder being in the form of an little cutie~<3
The LGBTQIA+ representation was masterfully handled~ Relatable, realistic, and heartwarmingly adorable~

Caitlin Kelly is an excellent narrator

After a while, there's really nothing that can stop Dreamer from reaching her goal and nobody trying to oppose her or her friends. At that point, it really feels like you're just waiting for the story to be over.

Another RavensDagger gem.

Turns the Cthulu Mythos on its head! And it's not litRPG--a plus for me. Not sure if there can be a sequel, but a really good book!

Fun and cute

Lighthearted story about a cosmic nightmare just tryin to have some fun.

At first I was expecting the plot to go somewhere bigger and greater but eventually i began to hope the opposite. The book is short and sweet. Any epic tale of cosmic horror would most definitely ruin the charm of this cutesy book.
