Summary

AD 1187. They call him the Great Defender. As Richard the Lionheart's most powerful general, Sir Juston de Royans is as moody as he is skilled. Reminiscent of the ancient warrior Achilles, Juston fights when it is necessary, instead choosing to command the powerful men beneath him. Never wrong in action or command, he has never lost a battle, and when he finds himself in the midst of a terrible siege at Bowes Castle, he predictably emerges the victor, with the lady of the keep as his prize.

And that's when the trouble begins.

When the never-wrong egotist meets the flame that will melt his frozen heart, a romance of epic proportions happens.

Lord of Winter

I enjoyed this performance very much. The narration was excellent. I particularly liked the voice of the little boy. He sounded so lovely . The story was telling the story of a powerful knight whose wife and children were killed in a battle. So the. Knight. Had to fight to obtain another Castle for the king. Whilst there he came across Two sisters one was the wife of the Lord of the castle. The other sister was a pure
Girl, who had been pressurised by the Lord of the Castles brother, for sexual favours which of course she refused.. the Knight was very abrupt with the sisters. He told them that they could leave if they they had family to go. They did not so they. Stayed in the castle. After a short while the Knight and the youngest girl started a relationship. They fell in love and married.. Many things happened along the way which made the book very enjoyable. I enjoyed every word of it.

Another Winner from Kathryn Le Veque

The novel is set against the backdrop of the power struggle between Henry II & Richard the Lionheart. Having lost his family previously in tragic circumstances, Sir Juston Re Royans is reluctant to open his heart again. In fact, he isa rather jaded, rigid yet indolent & self centred at the start of the story. Enter Emberley, a relative of the family who killed his wife, & who stands up to him at every turn.
Won't give any more away but just to say some of Kathryn's most notable protagonists the de Lohr brothers, Marcus Burton & Gart Forbes make an appearance in their younger years.
Brad Willis is one of my favourite narrators & brings the story alive with the diverse set of characters.
Enjoy! I did !
