About this listen
My role as Moric—ruler of a small and prosperous fiefdom in a quiet corner of the world—has always been painfully dull and stifling.
Until a beautiful, otherworldly creature with pink skin and a mane of golden hair falls through a strange void that has appeared in my guestroom.
I am instantly captivated by him.
I have never seen anything like him. I have no idea where he came from, and what else is through that unsettling void—another world filled with soft-skinned, defenseless creatures like him? No tails, no horns, no claws, no sharp teeth. Tiny clothing, rounded ears, bright blue eyes. He is fascinating. And I want to keep him.
I have no idea how my citizens and councilors will react to his presence—to the knowledge that a whole other world exists, and there is a portal to it in my guestroom. As much as I try to keep him my secret, the truth starts to slip out.
Those in my fiefdom who cling desperately to power do their best to tear us apart. To take him from me.
I won't let them.
Lor is book seven of the Monstrous series, a post-apocalyptic m/m fantasy series that features monsters and human men falling in love. It is best to listen to the series in order. Intended for mature listeners.

Another Hit!
I can say with certainty that until I discovered this series at the start of the year, there has never been a series I've read before where all the books have been 5 star reads. Then along comes Lily Mayne with this series and delivers characters and a story I completely fall in love with every time I pick the next one up.
Lor goes back in time before the Monster uprising and the timeline we have witnessed in the previous six books, so although this is in someways like a prequel with the way it is written, there are references to characters and plot points from the previous books in it that could be spoilers so please read this series in order.
Jugs is a 21yo summer camp counselor who's parents are mostly indifferent to him unless his dad is trying to pressure him into joining the family business, while at the camp he stumbles and falls through a void into Lor's guest bedroom. Lor is Moric of Thinir, basically their version of a King and was thrust into that position at a young age, because of this he is very unsure of himself and leans heavily on & allows his council of advisers too much influence over the decisions of his fiefdom. Jugs is an absolute 80s himbo and I was here for it!
Without going into details so as not to spoil anything... I adored Jugs & Lor, I loved how their relationship developed and built, the side characters were complex, interesting and likeable, Lyri, Seis, Gryf & Lililmore all wormed their way into my heart and Talimuth is someone I think Moth would be interested in meeting! There is political intrigue, some action, excellent spice, and the romance has depth and moments where my heart ached/broke for the two of them, but especially Lor. I can not recommend this series enough. Once again, Michael Lesley knocks it out of the park with his performance, and I'm going to need Lyri's book ASAP! 🌶🌶🌶

This book ripped my heart out of my chest and put it back together at the end. I loved it so much, it was both one of the most adorable reads and also so absolutely heartbreaking. It has a happy ending and it was perfect. The narration was amazing and I cannot wait to continue with the series.
