As lockdown continues with no sign of stopping, things become intense for Alannah as Jake slowly but surely turns into a couch potato, and his damp towels and dirty clothes pile up. Alannah finds herself trying to cope with an ever changing set of BoJo rules, egg snatching women in the supermarket, and Jake's endless zombie game playing.
I loved Alannah’s character arc and how she found her silver lining despite all the chaos going on. Special mention for Beau too, her crazy, lovable brother with his beachside support talks and healing crystals.
I was lucky enough to listen to the Audible version and it was a treat. Belle’s witty writing style is perfectly suited to being read aloud, and the narrator Helen Collins did a cracking job with bringing the characters to life. The result is a wonderful, entertaining, easy-to-listen-to story with plenty of LOLs (the Zoom call is crying with laughter funny) and lots of heartfelt moments too.
If you like audio books I’d definitely recommend downloading this one asap, you won’t be disappointed!
