Summary
Perfect for fans of Jo Watson, Mhairi McFarlane and Portia MacIntosh.
City girl Sophie has married the prince (or landed gentry - close enough), moved to his pile (which is more accurate a description than she’d anticipated) and is set to live happily ever after - until she finds the other half of her perfect life in the stables with the stable girl, and they’re definitely not grooming the horses.
Shocked and appalled, Sophie’s no happier to learn that she’s supposed to 'just get on with it'. After all, according to her mother-in-law, she got the title...they even overlooked her family’s ‘new money’ status.
What a lovely family she’s married into! But what’s a girl to do when she’s still in love? Make it work or leg it as fast as she can? Either way, the mother-in-law will not be coming to tea!

Not really a romance but a great book
Really good narrator. This is more of a woman’s second coming of age post divorce. I would also say that this is a book for someone who is 35+ and there are no spicy scenes.

Not my usual genre
It was very 'posh' but actually it wasn't 'silly' or filled with sexual vulagrity. I quite enjoyed it.

Couldn't stop listening! 4🌟🌟🌟🌟
I listened to this in one go. I needed to know what happened next. The story line was really good and it was Chicklit at it's best. I loved how Sophie was a strong woman that would not put up with being treated less than her worth.
This is the first Phoebe MacLeod book I have listened too and it won't be the last, I definitely recommend it! The narrator did her job well.

Very odd ending
This had the potential to be a good story, but fell short. Very slow to get started, it eventually picked up and at times was quite promising, despite the months and months elapsing between chapters at times. It was just coming into its own, when abruptly, it ended... Almost like the author just gave up. As it stands, it was ok for a freebie, but I wouldn't recommend buying it. So much unexplored potential. I just don't really understand what the story was meant to be about...

Enjoyed the story until
I should have noticed how long the book was, I was really getting into the story, but then it just ended quite abruptly which was disappointing

Started strong but went downhill
I really enjoyed the first half of the book, lots of details on characters, Sophie very likeable and the husband and mother in law not so much!
Found the book went downhill as it became too convenient and silly in places. Odd that some characters like Sophie’s London friends seemed to just disappear! Like other reviewers I felt the ending was a little abrupt also. Also found the narrator overdid some of the characters voices/accents.
