Summary

Admittedly, it wasn't murder. A moment's carelessness, a tragic accident - and two children are dead. Yours.

Living in a small island community, you can't escape the woman who destroyed your life. Each chance encounter is an agonizing reminder of what you've lost - your family, your future, your sanity.

How long before revenge becomes irresistible? With no reason to go on living, why shouldn't you turn your darkest thoughts into deeds?

Gripping, disturbing, unresolved

Contains spoilers

I was hooked on this dark disturbing story straight away and initially would have rated it higher however I had to skip over three chapters because of the unnecessarily detailed descriptions of a pod of whales being killed - not something I enjoy hearing about. Towards the end the story is from Rachel's point of view - this was my least favourite part especially when she had imaginary talks with her horse! Both annoying and pointless - no idea why the author included this - just too bizarre for my liking.
This could have been brilliant but missed the mark.

Little Black Lies

It's going to be very difficult to find a new book to listen to after Little Black Lies. I put off listening to this book even though I love Sharon's books. Comments that it was dark and difficult to read from fans at Goodreads put me off, and yet they still gave it 5 stars. I had to know what I was missing.

When I finally steeled myself to download the book, I immediately found myself caught up in the psychological effects the death of Katrin's sons had on the main characters and, three years on, the ripple effect on the community of Stanley. I was so engrossed in the story that I didn't think of the book as dark and difficult.

Then there's the ending ... No spoilers here, but you simply must read this book. I think love, loyalty, friendship and the very nature of the human mind will continue to baffle even the experts for many years. Good listening!

Omg best story ever read . Depressing at times tears towards the end then one hell of a twist Boom

Very dark lives of the characters . Couldn't put this story down . Brilliantly read . No crapy accents . Not my usual girly read but I am converted.

Started well.....

I'm afraid this is another novel that has fallen into the trap of over-explanation. This seems to be a common fault in recent crime fiction. I don't know if the genre suffers from lack of originality or what. Why does the 'heroine ' always have to be minuscule, and the 'hero' massive? It's so annoying. The characters have no redeeming features, and the denouement is frankly ridiculous. It is redeemed by an excellent narrator...

Excellent!

There are so many of this type of novel around just now but this one doesn't disappoint. Great writing, full of suspense, every time you think you know what's actually happened you find the details change and it's something you would never have expected, loved this book. Read it!

Little Black Lies

I enjoyed this one, it's not as good as the Lacey series but nevertheless I got through it pretty quickly.
The descriptions of The Falkland Islands was fascinating and very accurate of small island life!
