About this listen

Lieutenant Eve Dallas puzzles over a bizarre suicide bombing in a Wall St. office building in Leverage in Death, the next in the #1 New York Times bestselling series from J.D. Robb...

For the airline executives finalizing a merger that would make news in the business world, the nine a.m. meeting would be a major milestone. But after marketing VP Paul Rogan walked into the plush conference room, strapped with explosives, the headlines told of death and destruction instead. The NYPSD’s Eve Dallas confirms that Rogan was cruelly coerced by two masked men holding his family hostage. His motive was saving his wife and daughter - but what was the motive of the masked men?

Despite the chaos and bad publicity, blowing up one meeting isn’t going to put the brakes on the merger. All it’s accomplished is shattering a lot of innocent lives. Now, with the help of her billionaire husband Roarke, Eve must untangle the reason for an inexplicable act of terror, look at suspects inside and outside both corporations, and determine whether the root of this crime lies in simple sabotage, or something far more complex and twisted.

A brilliantly talented narrator brings all to life

I love this series. A great writer, but for me, Susan the narrator brings each character to life. Her different voices and accents are so spectacularly done, you would know which character she’s voicing without being told.
Nora/ jd adds light and dark with ease. Some of the humorous narratives have me laughing out loud, making me look totally nuts if I’m listening with earphones. But I don’t care. This series is fantastic.
Try the first 2 books..... you’ll be hooked.

I don’t usually review in detail but I felt this series deserved a shout out.

Also I’ll be checking out other books narrated by Susan, as she does an unbelievably outstanding job. She’s brilliant.

Give the first 2 books a listen. You won’t regret it

Another winner

I always think she can’t write another really good book but once again j d robb has. People are being blown up in their workplace by a colleague someone who seems to go crazy. What other reason can there be? Dallas will find out the reason for this strange behaviour. We finally get to the Oscars to find out about the book/film that has been haunting Dallas for months.

Loved it!

I have now read every single one of this series and I still look forward with anticipation each new adventure. All the familiar cast are involved in a case involving murders, cruel and unthinkable choices and a twisted motive that is thoroughly wicked. There's even a trip to the Oscars, but not for Eve and Rourke. They have a murderous duo to apprehend. I still love these characters and once again wait eagerly for the next case.

A great new addition to the In Death Series

I always get the In Death books on audiobook nowadays. I first read the series years ago when I got them out of library and really enjoyed them. Once I heard the superb Ms Ericksen’s reading of the more recent books I always bought the audio because she really enhances the experience of the books. Even if I go back and read older books on Kindle I hear Ms Ericksen’s voices in my head as I read.

This series has it’s ups and downs and some books aren’t as interesting as others but this is a good example of the series with an interesting set of crimes to solve but with enough Dallas and Roarke and their friends’ interaction to make you laugh. It’s also nice when there is conflict in friendships and relationships because all of the characters written in these books are strong personalities and there are bound to be clashes, which also keeps the books interesting.

I would say you might possibly be able to get away with enjoying the book if this is the first you read, but there is such a wide back catalogue that I would recommend you start at the beginning. You’ll enjoy it more. However, if you have read the books but not listened to the audio version, this is a good one to start with.

Always a good story

I'm in live with Susan's performance each and every time!! Her voices are just amazing!
The story was really good - a classic In Death storyline, with the usual twists and chaises.

consuming

Haven't listened to a Dallas book for a while but once I started I couldn't wait to start listening again. A good storyline and excellent narration gave this the edge once I had started it. U have the books on the go at the moment but after the first half hour this stayed on to the end.

Another InDeath great!!

I wait twice a year for my Dallas and Roarke fix...I was not disappointed, kept me guess who done it almost to the end..

I do think Audible books are all about the narrator..a bad narrator can ruin a good book.
I hope Susan stays the narrator for the in death series to the very end, I just close my eyes and the characters come alive. Other narrators need to follow Susan because she sure knows how to narrate a good book...
