Summary

I have a nice life—living in my hometown and owning the coffee shop I’ve worked at since I was 16.

It’s comfortable on paper, but I’m tired of doing everything by myself. Tired of being in charge of every decision in my life. I want someone to lean on, someone to spend time with, sit with, hug. And I really don’t want to go to my best friend’s wedding alone.

So, I signed up for a dating app and agreed to meet with the first guy that messaged me. Now here I am, at the bar. Only it’s not my date that just sat down in the chair across from me. It’s his dad.

Holy hell, he’s the definition of Silver Fox. If a Silver Fox can be thick as a house, have piercing blue eyes, and tattoos from his neck down to his fingertips.

He’s giving me Big Bad Wolf vibes. Only instead of running, I’m blushing. He looks like he might just want to eat me whole.

Oh Daddy...

If you like age gap romances, silver foxes with tattoos and a FMC in her 30's you'll probably like this one. To be fair though, some of the moments in this book might be too much for less experienced readers in the smut genre. Just a heads up here, there's a lot of "Daddy" moments and you best prepare yourself. But it's a fun time hahahaha. It's got a bit of a taboo feel because of how the MCs meet and the age gap which is substantial (20). There is a bit of immaturity on her part especially in the third act breakup which kept this from being a five star review for me especially since she wasn't in her twenties or anything. But because it's SJ Tilly you can expect some funny moments, banter and of course some smut.

Small town romance at it's best

I loved reading this book. So I was excited when it came out on Audio. Gomez and Callie did not disappoint.

If you like an age gap, small town, romance you will love this story.

My only point of contention, the bonus epilogue was not included in the audio.

Sexy & Sweet

First off Pugh and Dalton did a great job. Thier vocals helped me build my mental image of these characters clearer. I follow both talented artist and that is how I found this book. And this book !!! Axel is just the right combination of dominate alpha male and careful soft hearted teddy bear. He's pretty perfect and Maddie is one lucky girl. Their story is sweet and funny and sexy.
I've listened to it twice already while I do my data entry job and I'm looking into the rest of the series I enjoyed it so much.

It was just ok

Not the best writing for the plot but the steam was off the chart.. it felt very off with all the broken up chapters.

Fun and steamy

I started the series with Smoky Darling and it was my first time reading SJ Tilly. I enjoyed the storyline and the twists. I had heard all the hype around this book and wasn’t sure what to expect after reading book 1. Where I didn’t find it to be quite intensity that reviews had made it to be I did really enjoy it. The story flows nicely and I think the subject matter is not only relevant but is a welcome perspective for bigger girls. Throw in an age gap and it really does have a different feel than other age gap stories. This one was definitely spicier than book 1 which I am totally ok with but both books in the series have that Alpha male protector MINE mentality and I am also 100% here for it so that didn’t bother me at all and in fact I welcomed it. I find with Alpha mentality books there is far less of the miscommunication trope which I am happy for bc I find that particular trope ruins the story. Obviously there needs to be drama but what I really appreciate with these books is that there is that “black moment” but it’s quickly resolved but still provides an uh oh what will happen. The narrators were new for me and I thought they did a great job. I really enjoyed Gomez’s deep gruff voice and his ability to alter his voice for different characters. I took me a minute to realize the tone he was using for Axel, a bit monotone and slower and deeper, was on purpose to reflect an older man bc his Brian voice was far more up beat. Callie did a great job too in changing up the tones of her voice for the other characters. I’ll definitely continue reading SJ Tilly snd listen to lord Gomez and Callie.

A little possessive but hot

OK, I listened to this in the car and anytime I pulled up to a stoplight … I had to turn it down, because I did not want to get overheard due to the wording in this book. LOL 😂 this book is hot, quite risqué, but to be fair it is exactly what you want, in a romcom. There are so many sex scenes, it felt quite risqué. Did I mention that? Risqué 😋

Bottom line, not her best book, but some of her best sex scenes. And yes, be prepared for the use of the word daddy … a bit. 😏😏

If this had been a free book, I probably would’ve given it four stars, but because I had to pay for it … well it gets three.

Story line is pretty silly

I’ve loved ever other SJ Tilly book, but the story line here is rather awkward. The story sets you up for SO MANY possible complications, the age difference, possible jealous neighbor, or an issue with the son. None of which cause the 3rd act break up, what does….a random mean aunt?? Whyyy???

The narrators are great, but the plot leaves a lot to be desired.

I think this is overrated - or I am in a bad mood

Age gap is my jam! I waited for this book to come to audible before going for it - almost wish I hadn’t. Not sure if the audio was the problem for me, or the book itself. The audio did not match the characters for me at all. The female sounded like she was a teenager not a 31 year old woman. The man sounded like my grandpa - and he was only 52. I also love good chemistry and several good sex scenes in a book - I am annoyed when I have a slow burn and have to wait a long time for the “good stuff,” but this book seemed like sex for the sake of sex. I didn’t really feel the chemistry, didn’t feel the love. It was cute - I didn’t read book 1 and really don’t have any desire to give it a try after reading this :(. Im totally in the minority here, so maybe it’s just my current mood, but I didn’t love it.

Coffee and Cars

This is book 2 in the series but can be read as a standalone. This is an age gap, possessive alpha male small-town romance, With great spice. Loved the male narrator. with insta love, and the male falls first.

Axel

I like this authors writing style. The story line was simple yet kept you hoping for communication. Some of us tend to clam up in life!
