Summary
In North London, families are being slaughtered by a merciless serial killer, with only one female relative left alive each time. There are no clues, just the sinister text messages sent to each surviving victim. Ex-Detective Sergeant Terence Marsland is trying to forget his former life as a policeman and husband, when he's begged by the Family Killer's original victim to privately re-investigate the case.
Against his better judgement, Marsland becomes embroiled in a race against the official police investigation to find the killer while struggling to keep his own tortured past at bay. Marsland realises that the killer likes to observe, to soak up the agony of the surviving victims- - but then he becomes the victim himself.... Out there somewhere. the Family Killer is watching....

The weakest in the series.
This suffered from a lack of editing and was so tedious I sped it up and skipped to the end. I just couldn't wait for it to be over. This may be my last Yarwood. He's a very uneven storyteller.

Start At The Beginning
Having read all the entries to date, I have to say that Last Alive was when this British cop series went from good to awesome. That said, even though this can be treated as a standalone adventure you will enjoy this entry so much more if you get acquainted with the characters of Last Alive through their earlier appearances. Great to revisit this story as an audiobook, the acting and sound effects are fantastic.

Drama, Suspense, Tension, SURPRISES
Fantastic audiobook production of an exceptional piece of writing. Big fan of the sound effects, the bludgeoning, stabbing, breaking bones, tearing flesh and the screaming and grunting that went along with it, you can really feel it all as you listen.

A well crafted thriller
Mark’s third Edmonton thriller brings back a number of characters from Spider Mouth and Murderson, including the wonderfully abrasive and sarcastic Webb, and introduces my favourite character to date; bargain hunter and ex-police officer Terrence Marsland. Murderson as an audiobook while good was something of a misfire, it lacked the raw emotional intensity of Spider Mouth, but Last Alive is the most personal and emotionally charged one yet with gre

Poor narration and story
A big mistake!! Returned after listening for only 30 minutes. Narration was horrible. Narrator sounded like he was reading an elementary school book - little inflection and annoying long pauses between phrases. Could not engage in the story due to the irritating narration. Avoid this book!!
