About this listen

What happens here, stays here.

Detectives Laura Baxter and Jack Holt are members of the elite: Las Vegas Metro PD, one of the toughest and most respected law-enforcement agencies in the US. In the middle of a city with two million residents and 43 million annual visitors, they’re searching for a missing girl and the ruthless killers who snatched her.

The girl: gone.

A teenage girl is boldly kidnapped from her school, minutes after her mother dropped her off. While a frenzied search begins, bringing together the entire police force of the city that never sleeps, for Detectives Baxter and Holt, this isn’t a crime like any other - it is personal.

The crime: audacious.

Stakes have never been higher, inside and outside the exclusive casino walls, where only the richest few dare to venture. Innocent lives are mere gambling chips, thrown on the table and lost with a nonchalant shrug in pursuit of the endgame strategy: total control of the city. For the man with such unbounded ambition, no price is too high, no gamble too risky. Rien ne va plus but murder.

The choice: impossible.

Detective Holt is faced with an inconceivable decision: Sacrifice everything he holds sacred or jeopardize the life of an innocent girl. But the man holding all the cards in this game of life and death isn’t willing to negotiate; he’s only willing to kill.

In Las Vegas, few things end well.

Two mavericks make an intriguing team. Baxter and Holt trust each other with their lives, only not with their secret plans.

If you’re a fan of James Patterson, David Baldacci, Lee Child, and Robert Dugoni, you’ll be enthralled by this riveting, entertaining mystery thriller that will keep you listening until the break of dawn.

Dark and Compelling Listening

This story is more personal for both Laura and Holt than any of the others because this is about what happens when Holt's daughter is kidnapped. Holt stops acting like the rational cop we know him to be and does things which technically/legally are wrong but he does them anyway to try to save his daughter.

As well as the kidnapping we have a story about bodies of young girls turning up in the desert, all implanted with mico tracking chips, all have been brutally raped and left for dead. This is the case Laura is working on when Holt goes rogue, but this case is closely linked to the kidnapping and it's not long before Laura too is working outside the lines.

This book moves along at an incredibly fast pace, the storyline reaches out at grabs your attention and has some great characters some working to help Laura and Holt and others who feel that this time they have gone too far. I was on the edge of my seat all the way through this book. This story's intriguing plot has great attention to detail and best of all we get to see more of Laura and Holt's work, both together and apart, as they strive to stop these terrible crimes. The characters are well-written and well-rounded, and due to the well-illustrated scenes, I felt like I was right there in the story.

I was engrossed and involved from the very beginning, the story flowed effortlessly and with ease. Leslie Wolf has given us plenty of non-stop action in this gripping page-turner with twists and turns that I for one didn’t see coming.

The narration is wonderfully done by the very talented Gwendolyn Druyor her inflections are perfect and every single character is distinctive. I especially love her super smooth English accent when she is Laura.

I should warn you and say that this is a very dark storyline and because of the attention to detail, some people might find it a little too dark. Personally, I felt that it was very well done letting us the listener/reader know how evil these people were without going too far.

I was given a copy of this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing this review.

Highly recommended!

I'd read this crime thriller before listening to the audiobook, but Gwendolyn Druyor does such an excellent job bringing the story to life, it felt like I was experiencing it for the first time. Full of drama, action, and more twists and turns than an English country lane, this is a brilliant book that I'd highly recommend - whether in book or audiobook form - to all fans of the author and of crime thrillers generally.
NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions

Great Read

Las Vegas Crime (Baxter and Holt #3) was a good read by Leslie Wolfe. A teenage girl is kidnapped from her school, minutes after her mom dropped her off. This kidnapping brings the entire police force together, as this case is personal for Detective Holt. Detective Baxter and Holt will do anything they need to in order to find the young girl. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Hold on tight for a gripping thriller

!!!! WOW !!!!!!
Great writer and great narrator = Ellexcent team and a must have audio book.

This is the third Baxter and Holt book and even though I enjoyed the other two this is by far my favourite. It has everything you could want in a story- good guy you love to love and bad guys you love to hate, computer side kicks and even FBI agents.
Baxter once again has to channel her dark side and brake some rules when her partners daughter is kidnapped. Heads need to be smashed and bones broken, as well as a sick killer to be caught. This killer might keep you up at night not because it went into graphic details, it was just the thought of what he does with his victims. I would still recommend the book though and the nice thing is you don't need to have read the other books first but if you are going to read this one you might as well

Gwendolyn is one a my favourite narrator's and with this book she proves why. So much emotion and characters portrayed by one voice is amazing and makes an excellent story very enjoyable.
