Summary

Welcome to Willoughby Close...a charming cluster of cozy cottages, each with a story to tell and a happy ending to deliver....

After her husband unexpectedly dies, Ava moves to Willoughby Close, trying to keep her chin up and to herself as she’s always done - not answering questions, not making friends, and not seeing much of a future. Her marriage was far from perfect, but it offered her a much-needed security that has now been ripped away. She’s not sure what to do now that she’s 35, widowed, penniless...and unexpectedly pregnant with her late husband’s child.

Jace Tucker is the over-the-top, sexy caretaker of Willoughby Manor, and he can see beneath Ava’s glamour-girl act to the hurt she’s been hiding for so long. She has secrets for a reason - and so does he. The last thing she needs right now is a fling with a man who hides a past as regrettable as her own.

But with a baby to think about and neighbors determined to be her friends, Ava finds herself starting to change and even more alarmingly, beginning to hope. Can Willoughby Close work its everyday magic on a woman like her? And when the past comes calling for both her and Jace, will they have to answer for their previous mistakes?

Story Good - Narrator Dreadful

The narrator really detracted from the story given they had an America accent. Grating to listen to.

Good story and the characters were interesting with a few twists.

I didn’t understand why the narrator was American when this was set in England with British characters. There was also American words used which I found quite irritating. Aside from that I liked the story and characters and it was read well.
I assume there are more instalments as the ending wasn’t really a full resolution.

I know the author is from the US but….

She could have researched her locale more accurately, not least around the mechanics of ante natal care in the U.K.

Worst ending ever

Generally quite a good story but the ending is dreadful. No idea where it was going, too many unanswered questions, it was like the author had run out of steam. The narrator is American which just sounds odd with this quintessentially English Home Counties story, ‘the mobil phone’. Not her best.

Continuation of Willoughby Close Residents

Enjoyed the narrative of this book better than the previous one, as the characters dialogue seemed greater the descriptive narrative spoken by the story teller

Disappointed there was not a stronger finish to this story

Although the story itself was delightful, the accents used by the narrator were far too posh. Other than this it was a very good, easy listening story.

Enjoyable

I love this series, even if it’s a strange view of a Cotswold village. A pity about the awful narrator
