Summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The Republic has fallen. Sith Lords rule the galaxy. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi has lost everything . . . everything but hope.

Tatooine—a harsh desert world where farmers toil in the heat of two suns while trying to protect themselves and their loved ones from the marauding Tusken Raiders. A backwater planet on the edge of civilized space. And an unlikely place to find a Jedi Master in hiding, or an orphaned infant boy on whose tiny shoulders rests the future of a galaxy.

Known to locals only as “Ben,” the bearded and robed offworlder is an enigmatic stranger who keeps to himself, shares nothing of his past, and goes to great pains to remain an outsider. But as tensions escalate between the farmers and a tribe of Sand People led by a ruthless war chief, Ben finds himself drawn into the fight, endangering the very mission that brought him to Tatooine.

Ben—Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, hero of the Clone Wars, traitor to the Empire, and protector of the galaxy’s last hope—can no more turn his back on evil than he can reject his Jedi training. And when blood is unjustly spilled, innocent lives threatened, and a ruthless opponent unmasked, Ben has no choice but to call on the wisdom of the Jedi—and the formidable power of the Force—in his never-ending fight for justice.

Critic reviews

“Buy this book right now. . . . [This novel] manages to explore the depths of Ben Kenobi but still maintains the aura of mystery around his character.” (Tosche Station)

“Brilliant . . . This is Star Wars fiction at its absolute best.” (Examiner)

Excellent book, very well read

Excellent book with an excellent reader to go with it. This is a nice addition to the Star Wars universe and helps to fill in the gaps after episode 3.

Obi Wan IS Starwars!

Excellent story and brilliant narration. Tells the story of what happened to Obi Wan straight after Revenge and tells it fantastically. 3rd time I've listened and still thoroughly enjoyed it.

Loved it

Just what it says on the tin. A Jedi trying to keep an eye on a certain young boy, whilst simultaneously coming to terms with the death of almost every friend he's ever had... and still doing good in small, discrete ways. I can understand why some may find this a little boring. There's a lot of inner dialogue, and Kenobi trying to overcome loneliness. But, a slow burn is not the same as boring imo.

Really enjoyed getting to know more about Tuscan culture too and there's a mystery that permeates the whole narrative and has a satisfying ending.

A Star Wars fans must

I enjoyed the story and with the touches of Star Wars music and sound and a very good Ewen (obi wan) voice the narration was superb.

outstanding narration.

this is an excellent legends book, narrated with real skill by Jonathan Davis. it deals with Ben Kenobi's early time on Tattooine, his encounters with Sandpeople, locals and gangsters, all the while trying his best to keep a low profile so he can protect Luke. The story delves into the lives of the Sandpeople, comparing their savage sense of honour with the dishonesty of one of the popular human families in the regions. Jonathan Davis's voice is a very good embodiment for Ewan Macgregor's young Obi Wan and its easy to imagine the story with Ewan in it. it will be interesting to see what the similarities to 2022's Kenobi series on Disney+ will be. for people waiting, this is a very good appetiser.
