Summary
1940, Great Paxford, Cheshire. Not the best
Loved the two TV series but this dragged on too much for me. Not sure the screenplay worked as well as a story. Shame!

The reader spoilt a really lovely stort
the reader kept dropping her voice so low in parts that you could not hear what she was saying - this was really annoying as I had to either whack the volume up or rewind to be able to hear what was being said. not sure if this was for dramatic effect or a technical issue. nonetheless irritating and jarred the storyline.
the story itself is lovely- really enjoyed it.

A brilliant read
Lots of drama and compelling characters. I wasn't a fan of the constantly switching perspectives though. I would have preferred it if they had one characters perspective for each chapter rather than multiple characters per chapter.

Lovely story but........!
Narration was dire. But it's a nice wee story, and as I was expecting without a proper ending. So I'm still left wondering what happens to Pat!!!

Loved every minute
I loved the show when it was on tv and was gutted when it got axed, then I heard about this book, it took me right back to the show. I really hope there are more of these books to come,I loved every minute of it.

Great story
Story is good ,narrative is very poor, frustrating to have to continually adjust the volume every time the narrator went into whisper mode really spoilt a good storyline.

Love Home Fires!!
Loved Home Fires on TV and wanted to know what happened so was glad when I found this. Couldn’t stop listening and getting submerged into the lives of the women of Great Paxford.
