Summary

Don’t miss the brand-new six-part series from the number one Sunday Times best-selling author Dilly Court!

Rockwood was home, and she would do anything she could to stop it being stolen from them.

Abandoned by their parents and left to fight for themselves, headstrong Rosalind Carey has no choice but to take charge of her younger brothers and sister in Devonshire’s grand Rockwood Castle. But their once much-loved home is crumbling like the family that lives within it. Living hand to mouth and desperate to provide for the estate that depends on them, the Carey family are one debt away from ruin. Until the day comes when the dashing Piers Blanchard appears on their doorstep from Cornwall, claiming he is Rosalind’s distant cousin and that Rockwood Castle is his.

Piers says he wants to help pay off the family’s debts. But how can Rosalind be sure he isn’t out to take what is his and leave them all homeless? Only a closely guarded secret will convince Rosalind she can trust Piers to protect her family - and her fragile heart.

Disappointing

Dillies books are getting worse I won't be buying anymore. Her older stuff is brilliant and I still enjoy them as a re read. Narration brilliant story boring and flat

Full of set pieces, no cohesiveness.

It was obviously from the beginning who the heroine and hero were. Then, the story becomes convoluted, stupid, and unbelievable. The characters are all one-dimensional. Why a snobby old lady would talk to, let alone sign her property over to her bastard grandson, when she has two legitimate grandsons is too too ridiculous. Listening to it was extremely tedious and farcical, In a short time, I started fast forwarding, hoping things would improve. There was no good spot to land, and the ending was a squib. Don't waste your money. I haven't listened to this author before and will not be wasting any more credits.

Good grief

Immature Mills & Boon meets echoes of Jane Austen but with none of the literary talent. The sad thing is that in the hands of someone who could actually draw a character, it could have been quite (quite only) good. The plot was not too bad. The narrator read well - she paused at the right places, it flowed easily - but even she kept confusing the characters’ voices.
I don’t think even Barbara Cartland had her heroine changing her mind in 24 hours.
I got to the end but only because I had a long car journey and no other options

A bit too slushy

Basic plot good, but slushy ending. Narration also spoilt it, with the younger female characters sounding far too young
