Summary

When admiration becomes obsession, will it turn to murder?

I'm Watching You is a brilliant thriller from best-selling Karen Rose and part of her Chicago series.

Kristen Mayhew, the Chicago Public Defender's office star prosecutor, is no stranger to success. With success comes danger, though, and it's only a matter of time before she herself becomes a victim.

A secret admirer is following Kristen's every move. He kills the criminals she herself is powerless to stop, then sends her letters offering the murders as tokens of his respect. Kristen's life is out of control, and, as the body count rises, the killer's obsessive need for retribution will make Kristen a target, along with everyone she holds dear....

Reasonable story, bad romance

I quite enjoyed the crime story which held my attention most of the time. I found the love interest really tiresome. The female defence attorney came across as feeble and the big strong policeman as too masterful! I found the love scenes a bit soppy and yucky. He kept on pulling her onto his lap like a father with his child. She was small and vulnerable and he was big and powerful - awful stereotyping and not very fair to women in responsible professions. It was, however, very well read.

more of a romance than a thriller

The romance just didn't fit in with the main story, finding a serial killer. I guess should have read more reviews first.

Protracted

Narrators voice too young sounding, without conviction. Plot draggy, too much same ole same ole, the graphic unnecessary sex creepy, all in all not so good, earlier efforts more rewarding than this one.

Good Book, Great author...

I really enjoy Karen Rose books having struggled to find a suitable crime writer post listening to all of Lee child’s and Karen slaughters books... I love the common theme through all of Karen’s books, they make me feel comfortable... my only slight irritation would be trying to keep with so many characters, if there could be just a few less I’d be grateful, that said I’m reading the books in order so maybe she slims the numbers as we go along.
