About this listen

Drew and Cleevs love hockey, but they love each other more. How can the men find a way to save what matters most?

Todd Cleever and Drew Simon are crazy about each other. They started dating three years ago when “Cleevs” was a rookie defenseman for the Chicago Ice. Drew, the team’s captain, was a few years older than Cleevs. Both men were deep in the closet, but it didn’t take long for them to fall in love.

Cleevs was traded to the Bethesda Barracudas a year later, causing a heartbreaking separation. Ever since, they’ve skated around the problem with occasional stolen nights together and brief vacations under the guise of “friends”, but two years of living apart have taken their toll.

As the holiday approaches, Drew and Cleevs decide things have to change. Still, with their careers and two professional hockey teams in the way, how can they score the game-winning goal and save everything they cherish most?

If you like fierce love, a smallish age gap, exciting hockey, and a steely determination to make things work—not to mention enough steam to fog up all your windows, and a fantastic HEA—this is the audiobook for you.

Another great audiobook from these authors!

I read this book when it was first published and listening to the audiobook made it an even richer experience. Nick J. Russo has been doing a fantastic job performing the books in this series. Ice Angels is a sweet and spicy romance about an established couple, both hockey players but on different teams. They aren’t out and hiding their relationship, and the infrequent times they are able to be together, is having a negative impact on each of them but they haven’t really discussed it much with each other.

Parts of this story made me feel all nice and gooey inside, while other parts kind of broke my heart for what this couple was going through. I’m not a hockey fan but for some reason I really enjoy sports related MM romance. The authors keep the hard-core hockey lingo to a minimum and also explain things that a novice like me might need to know.

I love the solution the authors came up with so Drew and Todd could be together. I also loved what happened when they vacationed in St. Barts. I’m being deliberately vague because I try not to write spoilers. Please give this book a try; I think the books by Taylor and Harwood keep getting better and better.

A copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author/narrator.

Sweet and Hot!

5 Stars!!!

Cleevs and Drew were great for each other, their chemistry and love palpable for anyone to see. They were both lovable, steadfast, and supportive of each other and their friends and I loved that said friends had their backs in turn when Cleevs and Drew needed them.

While short, the book had a lot of substance, and I became invested in Cleevs and Drew's love story and loved how it played out.

Nick J. Russo did an awesome job with the narration. He has such a fantastic range and his tone is pleasant and engaging.

Ice Angels was such a sweet, steamy, low-angst story and I have no trouble recommending it!

heartwarming and entertaining- brilliant narration

I've always liked sports romances, but the books penned by these two authors are special. Having recently listened to the other two hockey audiobooks by Ryan Taylor and Joshua Harwood, I was totally delighted that Ice Angels has now been released as an audiobook.

The writing style is wonderful and I love the chemistry that exists between the two characters. You can feel the love and deep connection but also the firm determination. What I also really liked was the concept of the couple being together from the beginning of the book.
Todd Cleever and Drew Simon have been a couple for some time, struggling with the difficulties of a physical separation. Initially, they played on the same hockey team, but after Cleevs moved to another team, the relationship is limited to short vacations and occasional nights out, but that grates on the nerves.
Something has to change! But what is the price?

I enjoyed the story immensely and was captivated after only a short time. I suffered with Cleevs and Drew when they had to separate again. Overall, a really sweet, romantic, but also hot feel-good story embedded in the world of hockey.
I also love to meet protagonists from the previous volumes again.

The story was entertaining and Nick J. Russo did a fantastic job narrating it. It was a pleasure to listen to him bring the story to life. He has a pleasant voice and I love how he gives distinct voices to the different protagonists, always keeping a comfortable reading pace. I think he is the perfect cast for this and he did a really great job! I'm already looking forward to the next audiobook in this series, which I hope will be released soon.

Highly recommended!

Choosing truth and love

This was another hot and sweet hockey romance read by this writing duo. A little detail I liked was their reference to their own previous holiday book 'The Chrismukkah crisis'. I always enjoy how their stories flow and the writing is done so well.
The mc's , Todd and Drew, are already together at the start of the story but need to define what they have together and want to have going further. We follow them along their journey to their hea as active out and proud NHL players. This was a fun quick read for me and I am looking forward to more books in their hockey universe.

Audiobook: Nick J. Russo is an excellent choice for the hockey related books. He differentiates between players and his pronounciation is real clear and through that he makes this book a joy to listen to. Through his way of speaking I notice all the little details that stood out when I read the book itself. 5*

A sweet and deserved HEA

I was lucky enough to read this book and then a couple of weeks later listen to the audiobook. I loved reading it, and considering I struggle with American narrators, I actually did enjoy listening to it afterwards, I did struggle at times with the audio, keeping track of which character's chapter it was, on listening to it it seemed much harder for me to tell the two characters apart than when I was reading it for myself.

I loved Todd (Cleevs) when I met him in Fire in the Ice and was really looking forward to his story. The tagline for this book is "Are you ready to fall in love with Todd and Drew?" and I certainly did fall in love with them both.

My heart went out to these two guys who had been together for three years but had kept it secret all that time, but the strain was starting to take its toll on both of their happiness and I completely understand. Long-distance relationships are hard, let alone when you can't be open about them when you do catch up like these two have been doing.

It's a shame when your sexual orientation can make or break your career, and though things over the years have changed and Drew coming out would not be the big thing it would have been 3+ years before due to there being several LGBTQI players out, he kept putting it off. But it was time for them to have a serious conversation and for Todd not to put his fears onto Drew that he might resent him if things don't go well.

I loved that once they had the conversation, there was no procrastinating and Drew followed through with no hesitation, I really am not a fan of angsty romance books, so I like it when things run pretty smoothly.

I loved that their friends and teammates (mostly) were so supportive of their relationship and that Drew 'coming out' wasn't a big deal for them (as it shouldn't be, ever).

There were some really sweet lines between these two characters and I really hope I find my someone one day who feels about me the way these two felt about each other.
