About this listen

A night in Vegas is all fun and games until you wake up with a ring on your finger and no clue who put it there.

Jacob Conner was never planning to get married, and he's certain that sentiment didn't change even when he was completely black out drunk on the Vegas strip. Which is also why he has no problem ignoring the elephant in the room and heading back to work at the front desk of a San Francisco luxury hotel.

So when the hotel holds a big conference for its shareholders and Jacob's otherwise cold and aloof boss, Aaron Craig: billionaire and heir to the Craig Hotel Empire, starts taking a special interest in him, he has no idea what he did to be hand picked as the glorified babysitter for his equally important and pompous older brother, Trevor Craig, who just flew in for the week from... Las Vegas.

This is going to be a very, very long week.

I Do (NOT) is an accidental marriage contemporary romantic comedy, featuring three points of view in a billionaire tug-o-war over a sarcastic and unsuspecting desk clerk. You can expect enemies to lovers banter, boss/employee scandal, a lopsided love triangle, crossed boundaries, and a couple slices of humble pie in this gay office romance.

Formerly released under Ninestar Press, the story has been rewritten from the ground up with added content and expanded dialogue and chapters.

Excellent characters portrayal and fantastic plot!

Wow, I loved every minute of this. I ran through this in one sitting as I just didn't want it to stop. The narration was excellent, the characters were clear and the emotions felt real. It really kept me in the moment and always wanting to know what happens next.
Jacob is a desk clerk for a billionaire business, he's clumsy, hardworking, fun and witty, and he also makes life changing decisions when drunk, like marrying a stranger in Vegas and running away in denial.
Back at work when his Boss Aaron asks him to help 'babysit' his brother Trevor and keep him out trouble, things get interesting. As a week of drama unfolds we get to experience 3 POV and flashbacks to the night in Vegas as the pieces come together. With conflicted feelings for the black sheep brother, and the perfectly obedient brother, Jacob has his heart on the line.
Loved the passion, the noble sacrifices, the humour, the witty banter, and the sweet ending that I was rooting for! This is a sweet contemporary M/M Romance with a touch of spice and mystery.

A classic love triangle imbroglio!

Adorably klutzy hotel receptionist Jacob Conner wakes up married in Vegas with no memory of the wedding or his groom. With horror, it dawns on him that he’s married to his stuffy billionaire boss and hotel-chain owner, Aaron Craig, but neither man is willing to mention it to each other. To dispel the awkwardness, Aaron assigns Jacob to act as tour guide for his older brother, Trevor Craig, but Aaron doesn’t count on Trevor developing his own feelings for Jacob. Can Jacob survive being a cheap cut of meat in a very expensive sandwich?

I enjoyed this classic love triangle romance told from three points of view! It was playful and amusing and I could forgive Aaron and Trevor’s bad behaviours given their overbearing, interfering father. Both men redeem themselves and I found it hard to decide who to root for in the winning of Jacob’s hand. Jacob didn’t have a lot of power in either relationship so I was impressed with his banter and backbone when he got pushed too far. US voice actor Brian Cheney gave a solid performance on the audiobook, although I had to listen hard to keep up with which character was narrating. All-in-all, it was a lot of fun!.

Interesting storyline

This was a novel love triangle. Jake works for an aloof boss, Aaron. This same boss asks him to mind his brother, Trevor. Trevor obviously finds Jake attractive, but rhen it turns out the other brother fancies Jake as well, hence the triangle. Oh, and Jake accidentally got married to an unknown person Vegas....!
I liked it, easy to read, unexpected plot and nice HEA.

The narration is easy to listen to, good voice characterisations and pacing. I quite enjoyed listening to Brian Cheney and would listen to another narration.

Nice romcom

I liked the audio version, the interpretation made it more fun and amusing.
Regarding the story, this is a pure love triangle, so that means one MC has feelings for 2 people with a choice in the very end and it's clear from the blurb so I was prepared for that. It's written as a romcom and Jake's character is a bit silly and clueless. Overall there are ups and downs but I'm happy with the choice in the end.

Love triangle

Both the author and the narrator were new to me. Jacob Connor spent a drunken night on the strip in Las Vegas. However, he sobered up quickly when he woke up the next morning with a ring on his finger. He had never planned to get married. Full of panic, he leaves the hotel room in a hurry without a glance at his husband.
Back at his job in San Francisco, his boss Aaron is behaving unusually and then he has to babysit Aaron's brother Trevor. Jacob slowly begins to suspect what might have happened in Vegas.
The story is told alternately from the point of view of the three protagonists I found the story entertaining.
The topic is certainly not new, but it is humorously realized. During their time together, Jake and Trevor grow closer, but Aaron's feelings are also involved. So there is a lot of back and forth and unforeseen things happen in this love triangle.

Brian Cheney has done a good job with his narration. I found his voice pleasant and he portrayed the emotions well.

Sadly not for me

Jacob wakes up with a ring on his finger, presumably married after a drunken night out in Vegas. I had to suspend belief here when Jacob, upon waking, doesn’t remember the events of the previous night - at all - and therefore ignores his sleeping ‘husband’ and sneaks out of the hotel room without even taking a peek at who the slumbering man is. He then just proceeds with his desk clerk job as if nothing has happened… really? Who would do that?

I was pretty sceptical about the story after that, but, I’d been allocated a review copy (at my request) so I battled on when normally at this point I would have abandoned any further waste of my time.

This should have been a light hearted romcom but I felt no real connection between any of the three main characters in this ‘love’ triangle. I found I did not really care who Jacob ended up with, which is a pity because the author has a nice writing style which under different circumstances I may have enjoyed. Sadly not this time.

As for the narrator. A perfectly nice voice, and he differentiated between characters well, I was never in doubt as to who was talking… but, his voice was too mature for these young-ish characters. I would say he sounded like a man in his 50’s or even 60’s. At any rate, not a good choice for these characters.

I’m sorry, Anni Lee, I dislike leaving a review like this and would normally leave no review at all under these circumstances, but, as the criteria for receiving a review copy was for an ‘honest review’ then honest I have been.
