Summary
A heart broken twice from love and family. Can a trip to the ranch give her a second chance with both?
Sheryl Kyle isn't the trusting type. After all, her abusive late husband and her disapproving stepfather haven't given her much reason to feel otherwise. But when a rugged rancher named Mark seeks her out, she learns her stepfather is on his deathbed. And his dying wish is for her to return to Sweet Creek for one last chance to reconcile....
Mark can't help but be fascinated by Sheryl. Despite hearing the worst about her from her stepbrother, he's drawn to the hauntingly beautiful woman. When his ranching partner suffers an injury at the worst possible time, he's surprised and delighted that Sheryl agrees to work by his side....
As Sheryl and Mark's friendship deepens, she suppresses her growing feelings toward him. Can she forgive her family and herself before Mark, too, becomes a man of her past?

Coming home to family she never realized
This is a heart wrenching story of misunderstandings and loss. Sheryl lost her beloved father as a child and her mother quickly remarried to a man who didn’t know how to show love especially to a little girl. His very authoritative approach along with her stepbrother pulled all the joy from her life and she turned to the bad boy for love. Her choices turned her life into a nightmare. She’s pulled back to the ranch as her stepfather’s health declined. This is such a story of forgiveness and growth and new understanding and eventually a new uplifting kind of love. It’s a great narration and a great story.

Forgiveness and second chances
I was actually gifted this audiobook by a friend and I am so glad to be introduced to this author. This book is so well written and the characters are true to life. You can see the the good, the bad and the ugly. You can feel the conflict they experience as they try to resolve the issues that have developed over the years.
Listening to Sarah Beth Goer narrate this story helped bring it to life and certainly made it more enjoyable!

It is a lot about God/Christianity and not really a love story.
I struggled with this scenes seemed not to depth. No romance. I was not able to get all the way through it seemed so fake. Everything was about God not really about relationships. It could have been good but not what I was looking for. I stopped with 2 hrs left because it was boring and you could see the ending.
