Summary

The most anticipated spy thriller of 2020, from the Sunday Times best-selling author of Corpus.

Autumn 1941. The war is going badly for Britain and its allies. If Hitler is to be stopped, a new weapon is desperately needed.

In Cambridge, professor Tom Wilde is approached by an American intelligence officer who claims to know of such a weapon - one so secret even Hitler himself isn't aware of its existence. If Wilde can smuggle the package out of Germany, the Third Reich will surely fall.

But it is only when he is deep behind enemy lines that Wilde discovers why the Nazis are so desperate to prevent the 'package' falling into Allied hands. And as ruthless killers hunt him through Europe, a treacherous question hangs over the mission: if Hitler's secret will win them the war, why is Wilde convinced it must remain hidden?

Dramatic, intelligent and utterly compelling, Hitler's Secret is the breakout spy thriller of the year from the award-winning author of Corpus and Nucleus - perfect for listeners of Robert Harris, C J Sansom and Joseph Kanon.

As near authentic as possible.

This is an extraordinary book, and very well read. The author brings Nazi Germany alive with terrifying descriptions that ring true.
The story line is well thought out and gripping and could very easily be a true account.

Great historical fiction

Take an implausible plot, wrap it in an excellently crafted thriller and sustain the narrative through twists and turns and you have the germ of a successful historical novel.
The narration was spot on. The intrigue wrapped around WWII German leaders was well imagined. Introducing unexpected characters only improved this work of imagination. The ending was a little bit “safe”, meaning I could not rank the story a full five star. However this did not detract from an excellent piece of fiction.

Captured my attention from the first sentence

An unusual title caught my attention
Hitler being an unknown character I was intrigue to find out his secret
From the moment I started listening I found myself embroiled, wanting and seeking to know more about this secret
Introducing a child into the story immediacy drawing me in ( especially being a mother)
The stories from different narratives hooking you in to the overall story and keeping you guessing like parts of a jigsaw

The story line is intense , fast moving , featuring. The narrator is expressive and exciting keeping the listeners attention

So far this is the best audio book I have listened looking forward to my bedtime treat every night
Highly recommended .

Great story, shame about the narrator

The author weaves an intelligent and gripping tale which is all too believable.
Sadly, the narrator is deadpan, uses the same voice for all the female characters and reads the story like it's a phone directory.

Pretty good

An engaging story, well read. It was free for a while, so a win win. Not the best book I’ve listened to but enjoyable enough.
