Summary

A world abandoned by the gods, mystifying cosmic forces, unimaginable power for those willing to ascend, and a hero who would rather . . . go fishing???

When summoned to a fantastical world and granted powers by a broken System, most freshly minted protagonists would strap on their big-boy boots and get ready for their stats to start climbing. But Fischer isn't like most MCs. In fact, he doesn't want to be a hero at all.

Fame? Fortune? Power? He had enough of all that in his old life. Discovering forbidden fishing techniques and petting every cute animal that comes within scritching distance? Now that's a good time.

Unfortunately for Fischer, cosmic forces rarely care for mortal feelings. He's hounded on all sides by inept cults, conspiring nobles, and more magical misunderstandings than those of a preteen relationship. Even his dutiful pet crab is firing energy blades like an anime antagonist.

So grab your fishing rod and a good snack, and pet your dog for me. The catch of a lifetime awaits!

The first volume of the laugh-out-loud LitRPG adventure series—a #1 Rising Star on Royal Road with over three million views—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Simply Brilliant

Totally different but immensely enjoyable. Like a warm blanket and a nice hot chocolate all rolled into one. Will definitely be getting the next one. 5 star. Heath as usual does a brilliant job.

A different take kn litrpg/Isekai

this book has good humour, some different takes on the genre, and a general feelgood atmosphere.

Brilliant story

Great story. A mix of He Who fights with Monsters and Beware of chicken. I thoroughly enjoyed it and have pre-ordered book 2.

Fantastic first book, pretty chill

Heath Miller is a fantastic VA and it's really nice to hear his narration again. Classic self aware Isekai nonsense with a more chill vibe to it it's a really fun little story and I can't wait to see where it goes next

everything!

What a lovely written and well read book, it really made my week. First week of unemployment and was not well made me consume this far too quickly to fully savour!

Light and entertaining

For those already knee deep into the genre, this book seem to take aspects of HWFWM and Beware of Chicken and combines it into a new and enjoyable piece.

what a ride ! need more soon ^^

As always Heath Miller triumphs and transforms an already great book into something even more wonderful, while I am biased as an avid HWFWM fan this book through heath's narration felt like a mix between HWFWM and beware of chicken which led to a new and very pleasant experience.
I'm happy to see that there seems to be a trend for chill litrpg books where the MC just wants to do their own thing while ignoring or at least trying not to get caught up in the political/world/system's machinations.
It's a breath of fresh air to the genre which is something quite welcome, there should be more stories like this where the MC can act silly and oblivious while secretly building up power unintentionally, it's a great distraction and outlet for those who tire from a much too serious and troublesome world.
books like this are a prime example of what books are and always will be for : escapism and the joy it can bring ^^
