Summary
She’s chasing a killer. He’s watching her every move.
He hides in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment. Each kill is calculated, planned and executed like clockwork.
Struggling to balance her personal and professional life, young DS Becca Vincent has landed the biggest case of her career - and she knows that it will make or break her. But she can’t catch the culprit alone. Together with facial recognition expert Joe Russell, she strives to get a lead on the elusive murderer, who is always one step ahead of them.
Time is not on their side. The body count is rising, and the attacks are striking closer and closer to home. Can Becca and Joe uncover the connection between the murders before the killer strikes the last name from his list?

Another great Marrs book
I particularly liked the reference to the cuckoo, Laura. Marrs really knows how to spin a tale.

narrator thinks she's Nigella Lawson
Unfortunately I couldn't make it past the first chapter, the narrator sounds like she's reading an erotic novel, or imitating Nigella Lawson, this distracts from the words of the story.

Good but….
I’m not sure why but I felt this book lacked something. Unlike some I didn’t mind the narration, but I never really felt ‘attached’ to any of the characters.

Refreshing storyline
Another amazing novel by one the best British writers. Great twists and a refreshing storyline to the usual police based psychological thrillers.

Plenty of twists
A really good story, plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested, and an ending which ties up (most) loose ends!!

Twist and shout.
Oh I do love a good psychological thriller. I've read plenty of John's books now to know he can handle suspense just like Hitchcock.
With more twists than Lennon & Mcartney's Long and Winding Road, it's very easy to lose hours listening. All in a good way. Fans of John will lap it up. This is one of his earlier novels. Newcomers will enjoy it and hopefully look at his other works - The One being a particular highlight.
I've taken one star off the narration. While it is mostly excellent, there are times when Elizabeth appears to be advertising a Flake chocolate bar, her voice reduced to no more than a sultry whisper. But it doesn't distract from the job at hand.
I always look forward to John's books. Looking back at one is just as good.
Right, no more Beatles references. I've got a train to catch and I just got my ticket to ride. Bah!
