Summary
An American heiress married for her dowry.
When Victoria fell in love with the Earl of Pembroke, she never imagined he'd heartlessly wed, bed, and abandon her in the countryside. After he suddenly returns, determined to prove to her he's a changed man, she's not about to forgive him, trust him, or succumb to his scorching kisses.
A future duke trapped by obligation.
Will has devoted his life to enraging his loathsome father by creating one scandal after the next. Duty forces him back to the wife he resents, but he isn't prepared for the raw desire she makes him feel. Seducing her will hardly be a tedious task. Guarding his heart, however, is another matter entirely.
A marriage of convenience no more.
What begins in deception and necessity turns into an attraction neither can deny. Can their newfound passion keep them together forever, or will the truth tear them apart?
Contains mature themes.

Awful Narration!!!!!
The story line was the only thing that kept me listening. Gabrielle Baker does not have the talent to be a narrator. The whole time I was trying to figure out if she had a lisp or if she was trying to change her voice. It was awful. I will definitely remember her name and make sure not to pick another book she’s narrated.

DREADFUL NARRATION
Don't bother. I couldn't be sure if it was just crappy writing or crappy narration...both I think. Skip this one and really anything narrated by Miss Baker. Sorry to say, but she really should not be doing these narrations. The writing didn't help.

Glad I didn’t waste a credit
This is my first time reading a Scarlet Scott book. Wish I’d read some reviews before choosing this one.
If you enjoy listening to a “hero’s” mentally droning on and on and on about needing to get under his wife’s skirt, then this is the book for you.
This book is SO INCREDIBLY LAME! The word “depraved” is used to excess and, honestly, for pretty banal thoughts.

Not a second time
Between the over the top prose and the 1940's narration style, I had a difficult time finishing this one. I'm definitely not going to go to book two. The only reason it didn't get one star is because I liked the basis of the story.

It was ok
The narrator was good. I really like Scarlett Scott's books however this one is not her best work. I am looking forward to listening/reading other books of hers as well.

UGH!!
1- Due to the narrator, this was a chore to listen to. Considering she's also narrating the rest, I will not give this series another shot.
2- I found this story extremely underwhelming and quite ridiculous. Will is an absolute idiot. I found nothing redeemable about him. I can't excuse any "hero" that betrays, cheats and abandons his spouse.
Victoria hates him and upon his return she's forgiven him all and madly in love within a whole whopping week ( eye roll.) Don't waste your money or time.

Need multiple narrators for a story like this
The story line was really interesting, but it was hard getting past the narrator.
People should just read the book.
