And that is my only complaint about this book 😉 it’s a well told tale of the BT high Lord on a quest to find a shard of Dorns armour and how they get into a misunderstanding with the IV legion 😱 it has some really interesting parts such when Helbrecht changes a planets future by overruling a command of Dorn! Seems like even the zealots of the Templars can learn

For da Emprah!
I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure and getting to see through the eyes of one of the Imperiums most greatest heroes was pretty cool to say the least.

First 40K I’ve read, so …
It’s interesting to read about the 40K universe and the exploits of the Black Templars though, having read the likes of Iain M Banks, Peter Hamilton, Alastair Reynolds and Adrian Tchaikovsky, I found the book light on some of the world-building. I guess much of the detail is assumed from the existence of the game for many years, but I do like these details explored and revealed anew, even if most of the readers might be happy to skip this. One niggle was the audiobook chapter titles look like they were generated by AI listening to the text. They just don’t match and are even embarrassingly funny in some cases. Doesn’t detract from the book though ;)

Overall disappointed
Starts off strong the Narrator seems good, then he starts doing another voices of the Blacktemplar’s, the Chaplain is terrible it’s like he has never heard of a Space marine.
They skip from Northern to Welsh ascents ( No offence ) and by the end I was glad it’s over.

Great story! but the performance by Kent was absolutely perfect! managed to encapsulat Dorn, Sigismund and Helbrecht perfectly

Beautiful work for the high marshal
I’m very pleased with Marc Collins first foray into my favourite chapter. A very different style of writing that I thought was very on point for depicting the black templars and in particular the high marshal. The focus on faith that this chapter is renowned for was spot on loved it and I hope he will write more on the templars.

Excellent Black Templar action
Really enjoyed this, a stirring tale of a penitential quest. An essential read for fans of the Sons of a Dorn and a worthy addition to the canon.

This is the most boring 40k book I have read!
I have read over one hundred 30k and 40k books to date and. I have to say that this book is one of the worst most boring books I have read yet. After two hours into the book you are still waiting for a single conflict much less actuall fight and the character development is non existent. Avoid this rancid story at all costs!!!

Surprisingly boring...
A genuinely very boring listen. Its just a generic space marine battle tale you could find in any codex with monotone narration. The only interesting part is at the very beginning with Robute. The Black Templars deserve better than this.

Acting bad, story meh.
Narrator's voice was done fine, but the character voices we're done awful. missed the mark in a grating way and not believable. Story quite weak; self tormented and poor judgement dont suit a seasoned high marshal. Expect competence in those characters. I'm a black templars fan so very disappointed. Some of the lore shown was good though
