Summary
After surviving a series of family crises - including seeing his son on the other side of the law - Detective Michael Bennett is ready for a vacation. He settles on a small, idyllic town in the beautiful Maine woods, a recommendation from one of his close cop friends - and also a former flame. But just when he thinks that it might be a perfect place to raise a family, he gets pulled into a case that has shocked the small, tight-knit, perfect community.
Kids are disappearing left and right, with no explanation - until a collection of bodies turns up in the woods. As Bennett investigates the horrific crimes, he soon discovers that the town he thought was perfect is reeling from a deadly drug epidemic, and the violence is about to reach a fever pitch. Far from the New York City streets he knows so well, Bennett faces off against an evil next door that threatens a town, the law, and the family that Bennett loves above all else.

Awful narrator!!
I love James Patterson but this is the worst book I have bought so far - because of the narrator! It was truly awful! I gave up and read it instead!! He sounded monotone and fake- it totally ruined the book!

The Maine Man
A story in two parts that keep you involved for different reasons. Losing a son to drugs and following the path to true love all in one book.
A few twists that make you think that a new path is to be taken only for a twist in the path to lead you in a different direction altogether.
Of course you also get a lead into the next book so can't wait for that to be published.

Love this series but not this is not the best one.
i wasnt keen on the way the story split or tied back in at the end. it made both sections feel like they were too rushed and disjointed.

Haunted
I really enjoy Michael Bennett books, his character is so different from other Detectives and love the family side of it. Another wonderful story in this series, looking forward to reading the next.
