Such a good book if you have followed Marians’ career and read her books. It has all her hallmark wit and humour alongside the darkly complex and difficult emotions.
Marian weaves this story so well bringing characters to life in a way that few authors do these days. It’s a dying art, the characters you feel you’ve come to know during the telling of a good yarn
I wasn’t sure how I’d like the story being told by the author, I have a few favourite narrators and clearly it’s quite an art! But I soon warmed to the fact that let’s face it, she wrote the bloody story so if anyone could tell it she could and the narration worked very well for me.
I did thing the ending a teeny bit flat but I just don’t know how you end a book well unless it’s a cliff hanger and there’s a sequel to be fair.
Anyway, if you love Marian, if you like funny and if you understand the human condition and like to read a good story about it then you’ll feel very human reading this. It was a change too that Marian ( without spoiling anything) looked at things a little differently....
Warmed my heart it did... thanks M

Marian back on form but better!

Devoured this book! Warm, witty, poignant, tackling some interesting topics..... classic Marian Keyes. I would thoroughly recommend!

Simply Superb

I adore Marian Keyes and have all her books. This was a bit of weak one for me. Too many characters, a hefty dose of wealthy people problems, stir with plenty of middle class guilt. I enjoyed Marian’s reading but the book felt like it lurched from a posh hotel to a posh dinner to a luxury Italian holiday... and the characters didn’t feel very real or fleshed out for her - judging from her previous books in which characters stay with you and have very strong personalities

A bit of a weak novel

I just adored this book, I didn’t want it to end. Having Marian narrate the novel really gave an extra sense of who the characters are.

Adore!

Marian has done it again. The descriptions of the settings and the characters in this book are fantastic. I felt I had met every character individually and visited all the places. It is also the first Marian Keyes book I’ve listened to (having read all her other books myself) and what a bonus that herself was the narrator, such a treat .

Pure brilliance

this was a good story, but it took me quite some time to get into it. I almost abandoned it at one point but glad I persevered because it did get really interesting. I found it hard to keep track of all the different characters and who was who, but once you get used to it it is then one of the book's strengths. so many complex characters with interesting stories to tell. was surprised by the amount of sex scenes in it which gave me an embarrassing moment whilst listening on loud speaker haha. tackles some really important issues which is good to give a bit more exposure to!

challenging start but good overall

enjoyed it but you need the memory to be able to remember who was married to whom and what who did to who and when.

definitely one for the women.

After just a few short chapters I was hooked, and have enjoyed spending ‘Lockdown’ with the Casey family. Marian is such a good storyteller, and I have to disagree with some of the other reviews regarding her narration; at times I felt she had written and was reading the book just for me!

Loved it

Great read, family life at it's best, added bonus of being read by the author herself.
