Summary

High heels, movie deals, wagon wheels, shoes, reviews, having the blues, builders, babies, families and other calamities... Many think that Marian leads a glitzy life of limos, television, and showbiz parties - but she would argue that she spends the majority of her life writing alone, wearing her PJs, and eating bananas with a laptop on a pillow in front of her. Under the Duvet is a wide collection of her journalism and stories, all personal, closely observed, and painfully funny...

easy book to dip in and out off

If you are a fan of Marian Keyes then you will enjoy this book. This collection of short stories and articles is narrated by Marian herself which makes it seem quite personal. It's a window into her life through which we can glimpse some of the process and situations that have not only led her to becoming a published writer but also how some of her books and characters came into being via her own experiences. It dispels the ideas that the life of a writer is glamorous and easy but like her novels is funny and easy to listen to. The short story aspect of this book makes it an easy book to dip in and out off and I recommend it to any Marian Keyes fan.

Boring!

What a disappointment! This book is so boring I actually do listen to it to send me to sleep! The narration is dull, the content is dull, the whole experience has left me feeling dull. What is worse, I thought I was buying it on a three for two but somehow I ended up using a valuable credit on it!!!! Don't know how that happened! :-(

I don’t know why it was funnier when I read it myself

It was still a great book regardless I just remember I read half of it years ago and was crying with laughter, maybe cause your multitasking while listening to an audio book. But still loved it,

Entertaining but not as funny as expected...

I expected to laugh much more: one story made me laugh outloud and a few others made me smile. However, it was interesting to see that so much of what Marian Keyes write is inspired from her own life and there's quite a moving side to this collection of stories. And you can't deny that's she's very witty. But I lost interest towards the end. I'll stick to her fiction from now on !

Marian's voice is exquisite..

Laugh out loud funniness as she takes us through a series of vignettes of hers (and Himself"s} lives drove me to renew my Microsoft account so I could record the peculiarities of the Irish vernacular. The concluding chapter taking place in Ho Chi Minh had massive resonance for me as the birthplace of my daughter in law and who knows perhaps a place I will visit myself one day..
