When Lucy Mangan was little, stories were everything. They opened up new worlds and cast light on all the complexities she encountered in this one. She was whisked away to Narnia and Kirrin Island and Wonderland. She ventured down rabbit holes and womble burrows into midnight gardens and chocolate factories. She wandered the countryside with Milly-Molly-Mandy and played by the tracks with the Railway Children.

easy book to dip in and out off
If you are a fan of Marian Keyes then you will enjoy this book. This collection of short stories and articles is narrated by Marian herself which makes it seem quite personal. It's a window into her life through which we can glimpse some of the process and situations that have not only led her to becoming a published writer but also how some of her books and characters came into being via her own experiences. It dispels the ideas that the life of a writer is glamorous and easy but like her novels is funny and easy to listen to. The short story aspect of this book makes it an easy book to dip in and out off and I recommend it to any Marian Keyes fan.

Marian's voice is exquisite..
Laugh out loud funniness as she takes us through a series of vignettes of hers (and Himself"s} lives drove me to renew my Microsoft account so I could record the peculiarities of the Irish vernacular. The concluding chapter taking place in Ho Chi Minh had massive resonance for me as the birthplace of my daughter in law and who knows perhaps a place I will visit myself one day..

Keyes is consistently fabulous!
Wonderful series of memoirs in an entertaining and touching collection. Marian Keyes always makes me laugh, reflect, and cry, all while inspiring me with her life tales. I have given her novels as gifts to all of the important women in my life. Keyes, herself, is a gift, and I wait with baited breath for her next novel. Thank you, Ms. Keyes!!!

I really wanted to like this book. Having read Marian Keyes' other works and enjoyed them, I expected the same. One disappointment was that this is an anthology of mostly previously published older works. The book was okay but not great.

Something different
If you're a fan of Marian Keyes you might enjoy this.
However, this is not her regular type novel, but rather a gathering of short stories of her life and thoughts.
I enjoyed it whilst stitching, but am afraid I would not have finished it if I wouldn't have something else to keep me busy with aside from listening.
Am a Huge Marian Keyes fan, sad to see that so many books have been removed for US readers.
Aside from the swallowing sounds not properly edited out I thought Marian did a good job narrating, it definitely made it more personal.
All and all I am glad I purchased the book.

Entertaining, but also full of reruns
What disappointed you about Under the Duvet?
She'd already used much of this material in her fiction, so though this was a collection of non-fiction articles, the jokes had already been told.
What was most disappointing about Marian Keyes’s story?
Reusing old material
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Nothing, she was very entertaining as she read her past articles. Her personal connection to the stories made her narration much more enjoyable.
What character would you cut from Under the Duvet?
Non-fiction, not applicable.
Any additional comments?
I liked the peek into Marian Keyes' actual life and had some fun making comparisons between her characters and her real life relations. But if you've read five or more of her books, you will recognize much of this material.
