Summary
Merham is a well-ordered 50s seaside town - the kind of town where everyone knows their place (and those who don't are promptly put in it).
Lottie Swift is an evacuee who has grown up with the respectable Holden family and loves Merham. The Holden's daughter Celia, however, chafes against the constraints on the town and longs to escape....

Boring
I usually enjoy the books by Jojo Moyes but sadly I found this one rather boring. Not my style at all.

Worth a listen
Loved this story, took a little to keep track of the characters but you felt yourself drawn in, which made you not want to stop listening.

Not what I was expecting
Whilst listening to the first part of the book I actually went back into Audible to check I had downloaded the right book. However once into it the story took shape and I did enjoy it, the characters became evident and I was able to follow the thread.

Another fab story by John Moyes
It took a while to get into this one but then I couldn't stop listening! Parallel tales, one with the hoped for ending, the other unexpected! Pure escapism ideal for listening to on a dreary weekend.

Disappointing characters
Sadly, I found this story quite unlikable. Normally this author is one of my favourites, however this time I had a hard job listening to the end of the book as none of the characters instilled a desire in me to care about what happened to them. Another reviewer mentioned it as a romantic story, I found it passionless, frustrating and altogether rather boring.
