About this listen

No smoke without a fire

It’s New Year’s in Sinful, and the competition for the New Year’s Queen is heating up as the warring churches go head-to-head. Fortune Redding is not the sequined dress kind of woman, but reluctantly agrees to partake in the debacle so that Ida Belle and Gertie can best their nemesis, Celia, who’s put up former Sinful mean girl RJ Rogers.

RJ and her friend Ricky Benoit left plenty of devastation in their wake when they fled Sinful after high school. So when they return and Ricky is found dead, there’s no shortage of suspects. Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie know all too well what it’s like to live under suspicion of a crime with no resolution. When good people become the targets of gossip, they know they have to rush to unravel the tangled lives of RJ and Ricky and expose a killer before the wrong person’s reputation is ruined. Or worse—they’re arrested for a crime they didn’t commit.

Flame and Fortune

Another great mystery with loads of laughter all the way through, tricky suspects with a trail of victims they left behind them. With more up's and down's, in's and out's they rush around until they find what they need. Read brilliantly again by Cassandra Campbell.

Bang Boom and a Big Blast with tinsel or something else sparkle

Everything you can't get any more mayhem than every other chapter. Also the story is always a good idea where Jana comes up with the story lines I have no idea but brilliantly executed in every story and I've got all of them in order. Anything with Gerti and her cohort is always going to be crazy and with some serious hilarious moments of insane booming things and crazy things happening. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR WORK and please please keep going 🙏 Sue&Charlie

My go to author

Jana DeLeon is proving to be my go to author, especially this series. It doesn't matter how many times I listen to her books they never fails to entertain me and this book is no exception. You would think at book 22 they would have lost there edge, humour or even got predictable but no it is still as fresh, entertaining and hilarious as the very first book. The series might have gone through some changes, the biggest being Fortune is now a resident and no longer needs to hide but I think the series has just gone from strength to strength and is best read as part of a series. I love the characters and even liked most of the suspects, which ment the author had me wishing that certain ones would prove not to be the killer. The mystery unfolded nicely and I hope there is a lot more to come from the residents of Sinful.
Attending New Year celebrations for the first time as an actual Sinful resident Fortune finds herself getting talked into taking part in the celebrations. By being the Queen on the Sinful float, mainly becomes she has plans to beat the church's rival Queen, mean girl RJ. When the competition's float catches fire it looks like things are heating up. RJ ran off with her boyfriend years ago and nobody was sad to see them go, which raises the question why have they come back? Especially when Brock's dead body is discovered in a near by motel and then RJ is shot at. Fortune, Ida belle and Gertie have no choice but to investigate when things point to a Sinful resident being responsible. Can they catcher a killer or more importantly do they want to? When the dead man was more hated than Celia?
I love the narrator and hope she continues to be the author narrator of choice, as she is mine.
