About this listen
Come, join us for a tale of mystery and adventure. A tale of discovery and romance….
Alex Khan finished his military service and enrolled in college with the money he’d earned, ready to major in history. But when a nearby lightning strike activates an ancient stone portal, Alex is torn away from Earth. He finds himself on an alien world full of wonder and danger.
Ktor is a place straight out of a medieval fantasy, populated with Humans, Elves, Orcs and other races. A place of monsters and fantastic beasts. A place of magic known as Power.
Alex wears a bracelet of ancient dzi beads. When they react with a mysterious glowing orb inside a long abandoned temple, they unlock a Power within Alex. A Power that makes him both valuable and dangerous to the rulers of Ktor.
Joined by Taiya, a beautiful Elven Elemental Dancer, Alex sets out to make his way in this strange new world. A world of endless opportunities for adventure and romance.
Instead of studying history, Alex Khan will be making history on Ktor.
Come along, stranger. Come along, friend. Come along and we will explore together!

Quite unique and fun
I have received this free copy for an honest review. It is quite the fun story, you get what you want, it is also fun and interesting with action and an easy to relate to mc. It has an interesting plot and it will leave you wanting more, you definitely want to see how our mc will grow with his companions . The narrators are great and clear, easy to understand. I highly recommend it.

An very good 1st book
I was presently surprised that Hercules West's debut novel was such a strong one, if he keeps writing at this level or improves a bit then he should go on to be a well regarded writer in the genre.
The Book doesn't do much novel but does weave a lot of common tropes and elements together very well and does a good job of populating the world with interesting characters and events that hook your interest.

Enjoyable First Instalment
This is the first book I have read/listened to from Hercules West and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The MC is a former green beret, which is believe is the equivalent of the SAS in the UK? could be wrong since it's the U.S but the MC is studying to become a history teacher but during a museum trip is transported to another world.
The MC makes rational decisions considering his circumstances and doesn't automatically act like he knows what to do and have others refer to him when in a unknown world which I found refreshing instead takes the time to learn about his situation, the powers he has begun to harness before deciding to adventure and explore this brand new world.
I liked the dynamic between the MC and the Female lead and it as refreshing to see that every other female character doesn't tie themselves to the MC. The second girl we meet is a minstrel, they hang out, spend the night together and he helps inspire her before setting off on their separate paths. A similar scenario plays out between the MC and the Healer, though she may play a part in future books? not sure tbh, could got either way.
Looking forward to book 2!
