Too Preachy

Summary
If you’re different enough, the night is not your enemy, the darkness is not intimidating, the shadows are not terrifying. You fear nothing.
Christopher Snow is different from all the other residents of Moonlight Bay, different from anyone you’ve ever met. For Christopher Snow has made his peace with a very rare genetic disorder that leaves him dangerously vulnerable to light. His life is filled with the fascinating rituals of one who must embrace the dark. He knows the night as no one else can - its mystery, its beauty, its terrors, and the eerie silken rhythms that seduce one into believing anything - even freedom - is possible.
Until the night Christopher Snow witnesses a series of disturbing incidents that sweep him into a violent mystery only he can solve, a mystery that will force him to rise above all fears and confront the many-layered secrets of Moonlight Bay and its strange inhabitants. A place, like all places, that looks a lot different after dark.

Awful
I have read a few of Dean Koontz’s books and have enjoyed them very much, this on the other hand was awful, farcical from the beginning, just simply sped from one ridiculous thing to something even more ridiculous, and the bazaar narration was just irritating

enjoyable revisit of an old favourite
this was my first audio book. I read the physical book a long time ago and loved it. I wanted to dive into audio books with a comfortable favourite. I thoroughly enjoyed the revisit. I did initially struggle with the performance, due to having read this before I already had my own version in my head. my own voices for the characters. but soon enough I was wrapped up in the story again. really enjoyed it.

Great story. Fantastic narrator.
An absolutely brilliant book. If you enjoyed "Watchers" you'll love this book. It has 4 (one is a dog) main characters that you can't help but love. The topics are well researched. It is well paced from the start. It doesn't flow in a gallop but gets more and more intriguing as it flows smoothly towards its climax. I'm a Dean Koontz fan. I particularly love this book, in fact I treasure it.
Some great advice is included in the pages. Don't try to leave your mark on this world - It's perfectly beautiful, and man's in attempts to make it better usually kick us in the butt. Humanity should stop meddling.
The second book "Seize The Night" is also brilliant. The town's supposedly closed down military base is also mentioned in "Odd Interlude".
I highly recommend all three books!!

Interesting story, awful narrator
I read the book years ago and was really looking forward to listening to it, but it feels like it's absolutely dragging with the way this narrator talks. His voice is low like he's reading a bedtime story. I usually finish about a book a week on Audible. I've been struggling for at least 3, listening til I get too irritated by the reader and have to turn it off. He speaks low and slow and emphasizes in the weirdest way. Why can't he just read in a way that people actually speak and think. I want to finish the Audio book but I'm really struggling.

Horrible narration
I was so disappointed with this audio book. Normally a LOVE listening to Dean Koontz books, but the narrator killed it for me. I could not concentrate on the story because his breathy whisper type of speech was annoying and lacking in depth. I bet if they had Stephen Lang narrate this I would have been hooked immediately.

This did not start out like a typical Dean Koontz book. First few chapters almost had me looking for another one. But as the story progresses it definitely got real real deep and informative like all of his books .

Great book and series (wish Koontz would finish)
This is a great story. Many who have not liked it cited the reader as the reason. I would counter that his pace and whisper quality are sort of fitting for Christopher Snow's life in the darkness of night. A quiet time where whispers seem more appropriate. It also matches his night surfer attitude for life. Dude...this book is epic man...listen to it.
