About this listen

"I have faults enough, but they are not, I hope, of understanding." -Mr. Darcy, Pride and Prejudice

When Fitzwilliam Darcy makes an impetuous offer of marriage to Miss Elizabeth Bennet, he is convinced they have as good a chance as any for a harmonious life together. That is, until an overheard conversation changes everything, and Darcy realizes he is now joined in perpetuity to a woman who loathes the very sight of him.

Elizabeth Bennet's expectations for matrimonial accord were never very high, having accepted Mr. Darcy's proposal in a fit of pique, not love. Still, she is determined to make the best of her situation, despite having tied herself to such an arrogant, disagreeable man.

But life at Pemberley is not at all what she imagined, and Elizabeth soon finds herself with more questions than answers about the enigmatic gentleman she agreed to wed.

Trapped in a marriage founded on misunderstandings, Fitzwilliam and Elizabeth Darcy struggle with deepening attraction while confronting self-doubt and old betrayals. But is love enough to heal the wounds of the past? What will it take for two people bound by duty to find their way home to one another?

Always up for a P & P alternative. This definitely hit the mark. Loved the alternative softer Darcy

An excellent JAFF

A really clever variation on the P and P theme. Spoilt a bit by some modern slang. Stevie Zimmerman is superb as usual.

Excellent story

I’ve listened to many variations of P&P and this definitely ranks as a good one. Of course I’ve realised that as long as SZ is narrating it’s a guarantee that the story will be good. I Highly recommend this book.

Glorious

Whilst I am not one for many words, I'll attempt to explain my feelings.

An audiobook needs to grab my full attention and make me long to the next moment, when I can here the next few minutes. This book did exactly that. The storyline had me from the beginning to the end.

I never fail to marvel at Stevie Zimmerman's ability to perform so many different voices and accents, male or female.

Thank you so much to author and narrator for this chocolate box of an audio book.

I loved it and most certainly can and will recommend it.

Wonderful book beautifully narrated

A ‘what if’ version of pride and prejudice. Super story. Lovely narration. Couldn’t put it down. Fantastic

Perfectly enchanting

Sitting in the quiet of my evening listening to the gentle story of Elizabeth and Darcey’s love developing has been wonderful. I don’t normally enjoy ‘variation’ novels, but this has been the nicest I’ve read. Miss Austen would approve immensely! Heartily recommended for all those who enjoy real romance.

I have read many variations of Pride and Prejudice. This was one of the better ones. Beautiful narration. Highly recommended.

Jane Austen like.

It was nice to find a book, but I could imagine Jane Austen would have written. It also made a nice change to not have Whickham being one of the central characters.
