Good story shame about the narration
I like the story and books, one and two were very good but I was shocked by the narration of book three, I almost didn't finish it , it was the worst I have ever had on Audible, I don't know why they changed to this American accent, nothing against American accent but it was wrong for this series and the quality was also bad, if book four is the same guy, then that's me done with these books.

Hell on earth
Oh dear. An excellent book by an excellent author ruined by an appalling performance. What went wrong? Suddenly we have an American reader reading a British story unable to pronounce names of places and things. “Slough” becomes “Slow” , “Petrol Station” becomes “Patrol Station” and so on. It is clear that no one listened to this book before its release as all the mistakes, repeats and I think, someone drinking coffee are left in to irritate the listener. When you have invested time and money listening to the first two books in this excellent cycle and look forward to this one and get this, disappointing is not the word, it might be regarded as Hell on earth in fact.

Story let down by poor recording
The story is great or at least as good as the previous books.
Unfortunately like many other reviews have highlighted this is let down by the narration.
Firstly this is very poorly recorded with frequent background noise, pages turning and the narrator really loudly swallowing…something I can’t stop hearing now.
Also the choice of an American narrator for a book written using a fair amount of English slang is really jarring and quite often the narrator mispronounces words. Not really their fault as the words are often south London slang etc. but it still detracts from the enjoyment.
If you are looking to buy this audiobook then you are likely already 2 books deep and can’t simply ignore this chapter. I would however just plough through it as quickly as you can like I did.

Narration ruined this
When other listeners complained about the 'American narrator' I have to admit at first I assumed they were just grumbling xenophobes. But good lord, were they right. The narrator pretty much ruined this book. He mispronounced so many British proper nouns and read the text so weirdly that it was annoying to no end (and I'm actually American). But worse, he narrated it so completely inappropriately in terms of emotional tone that it was cringeworthy. A genuine disservice was done to a wonderful author's work. I will continue the series, but I want my credit back on this one! Yikes!

Story v Narration
The story was good enough. It’s the 3 of the series so had to finish it. That said - the narration was possibly the worst I have ever heard. Seriously. Shocking cadence and aweful accents. Almost unbearable. IRW should try to have it re-recorded.

When you order Nigel Patterson from wish
As with the previous books, a bloody great story! Unfortunately, the narrator has no clue what they're doing. It ruins the entire experience and will leave you struggling to immerse yourself within the story. The narrator should donate their fee to charity and refrain from narrating any more books.

Good Book, bad narration
Really good book, good to catch up with the characters from the previous books, but the narration and quality was terrible compared to the others.
