Not the usual Agatha Christie but still good

I have to say I have mixed feelings about this book. It was so long and seemed to be just an unnecessarily long ramble about a semi interesting storyline. It was sufficiently dark though to know there was more to it and having finished it I can say I’m very pleased I did listen to the end.
What was exceptional was Hugh Frasers narrating. Totally different to anything I’ve heard him do and he totally made it for me. He brought the main character to life in a way I know would have made AC herself very pleased.

Can we just congratulate mr. Hugh Fraser on this one?

The story is quite a lovely classical Agatha Christie one, it was similar to “The murder of Roger Ackroyd” and “Death on the Nile”, but the stellar performance of Hugh Fraser, especially in the end, really did the trick. I do adore this man’s voice and interpretation of different types of characters. I gotta say: worth the credit!

A Long Way from Miss Marple

I know many have enjoyed this book, but sadly it was not for me. The main character was a mixture of supposed naivety and guile and I disliked him. It was very different to Agatha Christie's usual style, which I always enjoy hearing and maybe this was a problem for me. However the narration was excellent and this kept me listening to the end.

Endless Delight

Agatha Christie is arguably the greatest mystery writer of all time. In a incredible genre defining body of work there are many great whodunnits and a handful of masterpieces. Along with The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, Death on the Nile and Murder on The Orient Express, Endless Night is one such masterpiece. In many ways it seems hard to believe it could be written by the same Agatha Christie that wrote these other books. The voice of the narrator, Mike, feels hard to imagines as being conjured up by the elderly, good mannered, Christie. Christie counted it as one of her best and she was correct. A dark love story and a wonderful mystery. Hugh Fraser’s narration here is first class. He is a cut above most that I have heard on audiobooks. He brings the characters and the heart of the book fully to life. If you don’t know the story, avoid research and potential spoilers, dive in and find yourself lost in Endless Night.

Not Your Usual Agatha Christie - But Still Good

Normally I love Hugh Fraser but he didn't do the main character the way I imagined him when I read the book, so I would sample it first to see what you think. I think the story is quite dark and not like your usual Agatha Christie - but it's still really good with a plausible 3 dimensional main character, and other characters. Would recommend (:

Endless Night of entertainment

I loved this book; Hugh Fraser (famous for playing the dim but everloving Captain Hastings in the Poirot television movies) does an amazing job of telling this story. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Such great writing: definitely one of Christie's best works.

Totally absorbing

I am a big Agatha Christie fan and have read or listened to many of her books. I didn't know anything about this story, but had read that this was one of Agatha Christie's personal favourites, so thought it was worth a go.
I wasn't disappointed, this is not the usual who-done-it, there is no detective (amateur or professional)

I’ve read Agatha Christie detective novels since girlhood and loved them. Some how I didn’t realise she’d written difficult kind of novels. Enjoyed it immensely.
