About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
The hilarious memoir from everyone's favourite Scottish drag queen and winner of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, Lawrence Chaaaaaaney.
Lawrence Chaney is a testament to the strength that comes from drag. Lawrence (Drag) Queen of Scots celebrates the little boy learning to sew at age seven and his journey to taking the UK by storm. From growing up as the gay class clown and being bullied to finding an outlet in performance and drag, celebrating both his outer curves and inner beauty.
The book will showcase valuable life lessons and tricks of the trade, all told in Chaney's trademark charming style and will resonate with anyone who holds dreams and aspirations that are bigger than the town they grew up in.

"Gorgeous, hugely talented, funny, charismatic, adorable, Chaney is a goddess and brings us joy." (Lorraine)
"Lawrence Chaney is the funniest queen by a country mile. She has delivered the laughs a locked down nation needed in abundance. But there's much more to Chaney than her quick wit. Her vulnerability is also part of her natural gift." (Vogue)

All I can say is Wow
Loved Lawrence Chaney on drag race and felt he was a worthy winner. Im immersing myself in all things Rupaul at present so this seemed the perfect book and it didn’t disappoint. Well even more back stage gossip would have been welcome but then when would that ever not be true.

Real and sincere with a gentle lilt.
Beautiful in its realness and honesty. Undoubtedly a support for young people who are concerned about coming out and being their authentic selves. Articulate in writing and delivery this is a must for all Lawrence Chaney fans and is another step closer to world domination. Loved it!! 🌈

Great book, suitable for anyone!
This was such a lovely book. It really made me smile hearing Lawrence speak their own words! They have such a natural charm and energy, I honestly could listen to them speak the phone book. Some funny moments and also touching ones too. A great overview of their life and career so far, drag race and advice for aspiring drag artists. However, the book is suitable for anyone!

So much more than expected
A surprisingly good read for the biography of a 24 year old. I laughed often and shed a few tears as the author describes the many challenges he has faced simply for being a unique and very special person. Also includes a great insight and advice for any aspiring drag artist.

fun story but restrained
the book was really fun. the performance is good and at times can feel really energetic and upbeat although they seem to be very restrained in what the hell are able to tell this story which can lead to it sounded quite awkward and stunted.
as for the story itself it's rather interesting but there's nothing new to them or at least not much of it it's just a recount of the story which they had on the TV show plus a few additions here and there but the thing substantial.
personally I would prefer to fit within more of a conversational style rather than in the direct Reading that the book is in.
would I recommend this I would recommend this if you just know about Lawrence and don't know a lot about them or use wants a fun few hours to help pass away the time
